Even though I love this show, i still don't understand why the viewers are supported toward this show. DM is like around 50 and Santo 17, and people should pay attention to this fact. For example would u want to get ur sister or daughter being married to an old man even though he may be rich. Seriously people, because of this kind of show we have underage marriages happening in our society. (Look at Pakistan and Canada) these kinds of shows degrade women. For example, Women like Taru constantly hit her servants and Santo, and she is constantly talking about status and ethnicity. We viewers need to pay attention to this kind of the knowledge. Shows like this make underage marriages acceptable.

After reading this: I bet u will ask if i hate this show so much why do i watch it::::::: because of Khemi and hiten and i don't care that Khemi is Hiten's aunt ... i mean come-on... this is 2009 and Santo is the 17 years old stepmother she is not even the real mother.

Oh..come on dont be childish to say because of this kind of show we have underage marriages happening in our society. The show happenes because these type of marriages happening in rural India . Seems ur not much aware of this fact and moreover the show is based on a novel written on a true incident happened in Gujrat. This not just fiction, its a reality.
The very essence of the story is how the lead pair come over their age baroier to build a strong relation between them.
Please dont degrade the show by posting these type of ideas.
No offense indended its all just my POV.

Samie, Relax! [:)]

Like Ammoos said, the show happens because these things are happening in the real world.

I understand it bothers you,but try to look at it as just a show,it wont bother you too much.

I really dont agree when we say that love can happen only between 2 people of certain age. What can be done if you loose your heart to someone much older than you? What can be done if that is reciprocated? Nothing.

Matters of heart, cannot be ruled over by social norms. Its not happening. Moreover,God made just a man and a woman.Like i mentioned somewhere else,He didnt make a 26 year old man and a 20 year old woman.

Does the show convey that the evil people always get the upper hand,No,not always. It shows people like Tarulata suffering in guilt.Wont people learn from that then?

On the lighter side,RR doesnt look 50,and acts brilliantly.
Enjoy the show for its little things.I am sure you will like it eventually.

To educated liberal population in urban areas this drama might seem repulsive. But in rural India caste class feudalism still exists. As for me ,I am a Sanraj fan becos I think DM and Santo are made for each other inspite of caste class and age divide.

I wouldn't want my daughter or sister to get married to an older man and at the same time I wouldn't want my sister to fall in love with my stepson. I can't in my wildest imagination fathom my sister falling in love with my stepson.
People have said this time and again that DM and Santo did not marry each other out of choice. It just happened due to unforeseen situations. It was not an underage marriage. I believe that Santo was legally eligible for marriage. I thought she was 18 when she got married to DM.
I agree that the caste and status divide has been overused here. The point is that Santo despite being from an entirely different background will eventually be accepted. To me that is very uplifting when all differences are overcome. Isn't that the crux of the story?

Don't have a daughter or a sister, but to answer your question, I wouldn't want anyone to be in a situation where they are forced to marry and it doesn't matter if the guy is the same age or much older, but if it did happen, I would hope that she finds happiness in the marriage. Marriage is not a game where you get married today and break it off tomorrow, it is serious business. And if someone I knew got married to a much older man and found happiness in the marriage, I would be rooting for them. Anyways, there are numerous examples of very successful marriages with age disparity, so I don't beleive a good and happy marriage is beholden to age in any way.

Like others have said, this show is a reflection of what happens in society, not the other way around. If it was then we could get rid of all the social problems by showing shows about them....because if a TV show can cause social problems, then surely it can get rid of them. Also, this is not an example of underage marriage, Santo was of the legal marriageable age(i.e. 18) when she got married....underage means that you are not of a legally marriagable age. The show is about how two unlikely people who are forced to get married find happiness in the marriage and make it work, not about how they got married in the first place and thats the spirit in which the show should be watched.

I am not quite sure what the comparison is with Pakistan and Canada.

And are you trying to say since it is 2009, relationships do not mean anything....that only blood relationships matter and not others, that people can go around disrespecting relationships and marrying whoever they want just because it is 2009....I don't think so. Santo is married to Hiten's fahter, furthermore Hiten has accepted Santu as his mother, that means Khemi is his maasi. Just because they are not related by blood, doesn't negate the relationship they share....just like adopted kids and stepkids are considered own kids even though there is no blood relationship....and saying that since it is 2009, it does not matter!!!!......it would matter even if it was 2059 because relationships have to be respected irrespective of the year you are living in.

I def agree in this particular story, age does not matter. I forget about the age when I am actually watching it. As others have described it's a matter of the heart and how these people were forced in to a marriage of convenience. This will eventually turn out to be a good thing for DM, who is still pining for his dead wife. His children have a wonderful step-mother and he a beautiful and loving life partner.
RR looks fab for his age and this role was meant for him only. Nobody else would have done justice to this role. I just enjoy it for the story and the characters.

Welcome to the forum Tweety.
Your very first post and it is very interesting. It's ok to have a crush on the distinguished older gentleman as long as you don't act upon it😆😆 Just admire him from afar😆
