Wow. It's been nine years since Kareena Kapoor made her Bollywood debut, and it seems like so much longer.

The Kapoor family superstar turns 29 on September 21, and before we all wish her a very happy birthday, here's a look at ten distinct Kareena looks:

Refugee

All eyes were on Kareena when she made her debut in JP Dutta's Refugee opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Her look was stark and simple, yet she looked completely captivating.

Kareena turned up the exotica with some wonderfully inspired eye makeup as she played Kaurvaki to Shah Rukh Khan's Asoka in Santosh Sivan's visually magnificent Asoka. She looked tough, fiery and utterly breathtaking.

Kapoor dropped the simplicity and embraced the glam in Karan Johar's magnum opus, borrowing mannerisms from Alicia Silverstone's Clueless character to create her own valley girl, Poo.

It was a hard task to imagine Kareena the diva playing a gaudy streetwalker, but both she and director Sudhir Mishra were more than up to the task -- and the result is one of Kareena's most compelling looks.

Ken Ghosh's film might not be one of Kareena's most memorable, but it does stand out as her first real 'babe' look -- especially as she played the seductive femme fatale.

Kapoor dialled down the glamour yet again to look her absolute prettiest in Vishal Bhardwaj's Othello adaptation. Her skin looked luminous, sparkling simply in contrast with dirty men and a dirtier world around her -- a perfect Desdemona.

Farhan Akhtar's Don saw Kareena take on something truly daring, stepping into the most iconic item-girl shoes of all time. As Kamini she danced to a song Helen made unforgettable, and while she wasn't one-tenth as good as the original, it was surely a pretty interesting look.

Imtiaz Ali's road film saw Kareena in one of her most endearing roles to date, and her look -- that of interesting t-shirt teamed up with patiala salwars -- typified the big-city college girl slumming it out on the train.

Ah yes, the bikini. Kareena starved and slaved to get herself into the ideal shape to wear a teensy-weensy bikini in this one, and while her posterior still looked great, the rest of her seemed to have taken the 'size zero' thing a bit too far.

Image: A scene from Tashan

In her most recent release, Kareena seemed to find a rather sexy middle-ground between size-zero and oomph, and Akshay Kumar looked quite lucky as he ogled Kapoor, playing a supermodel/surgeon. With legs like that, she could cut us up anytime.

I gotta say, I may be let down with some of kareena's choices in movies, but i'm really proud with how much she experiments with roles and looks. She's one of the few actresses who cannot be typecast into just one look or one role. She does it all!

I personally think she looked her best in Jab We Met and Omkara. The latter is also my favourite Kareena performance.

And yes I would say that out of the star actors in Bollywood she has been the most versatile. When she can do a film like JWM and get critical acclaim and commercial success I don't know why she has to go the KI route.

*sighs* Now htat is a question that has hounded kareena fans for years. She does movies like Dev, Chameli, Omkara, and then reverts with utter garbage like KI and Tashan. Seriously, I woudl have to say KI has been her WORST FILM till date. And I say that because she has OPTIONS today. Its not like its all she's being offered. Its what she chose. So I overlook her earlier movies liek Talaash and other crummy movies when seh was younger.

Looked best in JWM.

I didn't like her until JWM beauty wise. I am sorry to say that but something about her face I did not like. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? Something about her face, I did not find to be feminine.

But, in JWM she looked pretty. NOw she is looking good. Seen trailers of Mr and Ms Khanna and she seems to look pretty.
I also find her to be coming to her own which I like. She is dressing and looking classy. Her face is glowing and she is looking happy.

I found her the most beautiful in Refugee and Jab We Met as well. In fact it was after Jab We Met that's she started looking better, off-screen included, her skin; radiant and hair; healthy looking.
