NINAITHALE INIKKUM MOVIE REVIEW

Review by : Behindwoods review board

Starring: Prithviraj, Sakthi, Karthik Kumar, Priyamani, Anuja Iyer, Jeeva, Bhagiyaraj
Direction: G N R Kumaravelan
Music: Vijay Anthony
Production: Gemini Film Circuit

Classmates, the Malayalam blockbuster comes to Tamil as Ninaithale Inikkum directed by debutant G N R Kumaravelan, son of the legendary director G N Rangarajan. Adhering to the original format mostly, Kumaravelan has done a decent job in this Gemini Film Circuit production venture.

Prithviraj (who featured in the original version as well), Sakthi Vasu, Priya Mani and Anuja Iyer (Sivi fame) are one set of friends in a college while Karthik Kumar and Lollu Sabha Jeeva are in the rival gang. Prithviraj meets Priya Mani on the first day of college and it is love at first sight for him but he never divulges his love to her.

Karthik, on the other hand is a rich brat, interested in a girl but when his feelings are not reciprocated, he forces the girl to love him. Prithvi intervenes in favor of the girl that sets the ball rolling for bitter acrimony between the men. Meanwhile Prithvi's popularity graph soars in the college, thanks to his pro-student activities which irk Karthik who is on the look out for a suitable opportunity to bring Prithvi

down. Further interesting events mark the rest of the film wherein there are some surprise twists in the love angle revealed only in the denouement.

Prithvi scores in his performance and proves he is after all an experienced artist. Ninaithale Inikkum will be a significant milestone in his film career. Among the other members, Karthik dazzles. He has exploited the given minimal situations to his credit and heaps applause. Testimony of his Evam experience indeed! Priya Mani takes some time to thaw and becomes normal in the second half. Sakthi understands his role and delivers. K Bhagyaraj as Sakthi's dad is apt.

Screen play has been dealt with a touch of maturity. Balasubramanian gets plaudits for his beautiful work with the camera. Vijay Antony's music is appreciable especially in the 'Azhagai Poothade' number. In many places he has let silence speak which is praiseworthy.

In some way or the other audience is bound to relate to the film especially the college days. The director who chose to convey sorrow intensely could have extended similar treatment to happiness also which would have hastened the first half.

Ninaithale Inikkum Movie Review
Ninaithale Inikkum - Of revelry and rivalry
IndiaGlitz [Saturday, September 05, 2009]

Debutant director G N R Kumarvelu's 'Ninaithale Inikkum', a remake of Malayalam hit 'Classmates', is a campus crackle that speaks of fun, joy and camaraderie among friends in a college campus.

With a young brigade including Prithviraj, Shakthi and Priyamani at the scheme of things, the movie does manage to take one to their college days – the revelry, romance and of course revenge.

Prithviraj hogs all limelight playing a young student Siva, who has a purpose to achieve. So is Shakthi, who plays his best friend in the college. Priyamani as Prithvi's lover adds to the play.

Of course with a host of characters around, debutant director Kumaravel has managed to have come out with a script that has a lighter side before settling down for a touchy climax.

Kumaravel is assisted by Vijay Antony's music, which has a right mix of peppy and soft numbers. Unlike his earlier films, Vijay Antony has allowed lyrics to dominate his music. Equally impressive is Balasubramaniam's soft lens. The cinematographer captures the life in a college hostel in a different tone.

Siva (Prithvi) looks back at his college days as he returns from Mumbai to attend his college reunion (almost after eight years). The flashback unfolds. Siva, who has an immediate concern for the welfare of others, leads a happy life in the campus along with friends including Shakthi (Shakthi).

Siva's rising popularity in the college irks Vasu (Karthik Kumar). He sets out to seek revenge on him. Enters Meera (Priyamani), daughter of a local MLA, who studies in the same college. She falls in love with Siva after the latter saves her from a police charge.

Vasu plays a trick and succeeds in making Meera contest against Siva in the college union elections. Friction develops in their affair. But greater things unfold as election begins. Shakthi is found dead in the hostel.

A heart-broken Siva informs none and leaves to Mumbai. A series of events unfold during the college reunion that forms the climax and it ends on a touchy note.

If Prithviraj and Priyamaani lends solidity to their roles, Shakthi walks away with all honours with his breezy and cool performance. Priyamani has no major role to play, yet she kind of leaves an impression in that role.

K Bhagiyaraj as Shakthi's father impresses while the rest of the cast including Ilavarasu, 'Goodluck' Lakshmanan and Manobala are adequate. 'Ninaithale Inikkum' is a movie for the youngsters. Though it is far from the magic of the original.

In Malaysia, the review in the papers was given as.... 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Apparently the Malayalam movie was superb that they should have sticked to the same theme.
The tamil movie was changed alot causing chaos in the movie. It seems even Vijay Anthony's songs were below the par.
I am not seeing it in movie, except if they show in t.v.

I have seen both the original mallu version and telugu too😊 They have made many changes from the original one but the main theme is same. In the review it wad written Bhagyaraj and his wife was lecturer at the same college but in the movie - I was confused over Bhagyarajs role He was sobbing. 😕

Anyway, the college fun and youth-orientation scenes were missing, I mean we seen those scenes they showed here earlier on other movies too.

Priyamani didn't really impress me😕, her character comes there and there, she doesn't have much to do expect for in the post interval😕. I couldn't even understand anything out of her and Prithvirajs love.😳 Karthik Kumar was wasted here, he was absence on the first part after poi solla poram movie, I thought he will get better roles and not be wasted.

The girl who played the role of Shali was good, she completely took over in the latter part of the film, the climax scene.👏👏 For the first time, I liked Sakthi compared👏 to his other 2 movies.🤢 It was nice to see Jeeva, but he need to improve more on his comedy.😉

Prithviraj have lived up to the expectations👏, but he can dance too 😲😲😆Never expected him to dance like that for the sexy lady song😳 lolz 😆😆😆

Nanbanai parthale and azhagai pookuthey songs are nice to hear and picturization was very good too👍🏼

Its a okay movie for those who havent watch "classmates" 😉 if u have seen classmates then dont have any high expectations😆😆

Thanka Aish and others for the review and comments...
I have watched classmates... Thought this is gonna bang on.. But my friends are not convinced witht the remake...
Yet i was determined to wtch until i saw few scenes in tv..
I liked Shakthi a lot who was picture perfect for the role... I felt that Prithviraj was looking matured for that character.. No offense please.. I agree that he looks goodn and handsome.. But he looks matured.. don't y i feel like that.. but no peppy guy he is.. Also, his acting has some sort of maturity and different style from others.. I was able to see the same in this movie too.. It was kinda professional.. He could have changed a bit for this movie...
Jeeva's comedy was not as expected... Bala sir a paaka mudiyala... Haven't seen karthik scenes..
So dropped the idea watching the movie.... Fed up..
