So, MJHT claims to portray today's college youth, their life, their college Lifestyle, and it also claims that it shows characters whom normal people can relate to. This in itself is Contradictory.
So basically, MJHT is a college based show. And as far as i know, MJHT and College bear no resemblance AT ALL! The initial months of this show gave us 6 completely unique characters, each having their own imperfections. What I liked about these characters was that they were ACTUALLY believable, and not too over the top.
Gunjan was a shy and naive girl, with amazing intellect and smartness, a little too sensitive but caring all the same. We all may have definitely come across such a girl, somewhere in our life. Samrat, the cool basketball champ, a little unrealistic, but we do have flirt-cum-decent boys somewhere in this world. Mayank- The cool nerd, with an i-care-a-damn attitude, believes that he's a perfectionist, but in reality, has a lot to learn from others. Nupur is the outspoken, innocent, bubbly and jovial girl. She looks for fantasy everywhere, but is smart and intelligent all the same. Dia is yet another believable character, and so is Uday.
Okay, so i'm not rambling on how the characters have completely deviated from their original selves in these months, but what i'm saying is, IS COLLEGE REALLY WHAT THEY SHOW IN MJHT?
I know they cannot show complete reality like classes, library and professors EACH time, but how about going to atleast near to College lifestyle?
College isn't only about love, it is about friendship too. And by friendship, i do NOT mean The Samrat-Gunjan friendship, Mayank-Nupur friendship, or Uday-Benji friendship. The only thing close to friendship is that of Samrat and Dia. Friendship like Gunjan and Samrat DOES NOT exist! Atleast I never witnessed it. And also, friendship cannot build up all of a sudden when someone helps you out of a mess, (Mayank & Samrat). You can only call them aquaintances. How did these people become a GANG when i NEVER saw them bonding with one another? How can they call themselves BEST FRIENDS, when they hardly interact with one another? Friendship doesn't appear all of a sudden, it takes time and understanding, which MJHT failed to show.
People have enemies too, but the enemies do not stoop down to SUCH limits. At the most, you can abuse one another on their faces and it's done. But trapping someone? That is ridiculous.
And coming to relationship. When two people are in love, it isn't that they're always stuck to each other. They interact with OTHER people as well, attend lectures and have fun with friends. I don't see that in mjht. Sajan always together and mayur always together. And what about they sitting in the canteen, having some enjoyment? What's the point of a basketball court if no one plays there? And moreover, how come there are NO professors?
In my opinion, College isn't only about love. it is about growing up in life through experience, making new friends, having the time of your life, and ENJOYING.
And if this is what MJHT is showing in the name of college, i'd rather they stop that. Because college is definitely not what they show in mjht!
