it's one thing to get flashbacks like when we get to understand why it was so important to prem that heer named their child chahat. that was a phundamental flashback.
but this one?? this one was incredible, 'cause it was warm and fuzzy and oh-so-real! what did i adore about this one?
first of all: it has heer fool 'round with prem's hair! y'know? since he came back from the blast, prem (hc? 😆) has been fussy about people touching his hair. be it his brothers or his mother, he's been fussy. the only person he's actually not been that fussy about touching his hair is ☺️ heer. but naturally. ☺️
and not just when she hugs him and buries her fingers in the hair at the back of his head.
or in all those prem-heer-oooooooh moments when, if heer has her hands/arms around prem's shoulders, then it is almost certain that her fingers will find their way to drown in the hair at the back of his head.

another one of those rare instances was the day that heer waited for prem to get back from work, and danced in the rain, and both of them got wet. and then prem allowed heer to towel his hair for him, sitting on the bed, like a good boy, except for the fire in his eyes as he stared at his wife.
and i remember wondering how much of the burning, melting sensation in my stomach came from the way she toss-dried his hair with her fingers, and how much from the way he was just drinking her in -- like he could swallow her down in just one gulp.

and so, i was resigned to feeling mushy and melty today watching her play with his hair.
but what was new here -- compared to all the other times we've seen heer's fingers in the hair at prem's forehead -- was the sheer lack of that prem-staring-at-heer intensity in this one! no?? i mean! he was soooooo comfortable with her fooling around -- he was falling asleep! *man, did hc manage to show that he was falling asleep beautifully or what??!??! 🤣* and i was charmed out of my socks.
'cause that's when i felt that dizzying sense of wonder at these two again. i remember feeling it while watching the two of them sitting cosily on a bed, heer against prem's folded legs, prem against the headboard, chatting like they were just two people who had been married for years. or lying side-by-side, their heads against each other, talking about whether prem missed heer when she had been thrown out of the house. and i remember these two looked just like my bombay pals, who are married for nearly three years now and are still dopily in love -- and the honesty and realism of the moment took my breath away.
and they did it again here. in this ridiculously short flashback! how phully prem had given himself up to heer. that is something that is so expected in a love-drenched-established relationship. and i must stand up and give an ovation to the script-writers for having put that feeling through in this moment.
isn't it funny how -- of all places, of all situations -- it is here that we get to see how much prem had given himself up to heer? i mean, guys just don't do this, right??! they're too macho. they are all ''don't mess with the hair, dude!'' and prem is no different from such a guy -- except for when he is with heer!
omg. i loved it. i was totally giggling at him. but i have not loved prem so much in a long time as i loved his submission to heer at this point. truly. i could've just squeezed him to breathlessness here! *er... and please spare me my blushes and don't ask who would've been breathless here! 😆*
and heer! didn't she look like a kid playing withe her favourite doll??! i mean, this is what my 4 year old niece does! she combs her dolly's hair, and ties it up, and then carefully looks at the style. smiles. and then starts doing it all over again! and the look on heer's face was just that -- heer playing with her prem dolly's hair! sooooooo cute!
*omg. prem dolly. -- a prolly?? omg. what a super marketing idea that would be! soft, cuddly prolly. lay him down and his big brown eyes will automatically close. pick him up and he automatically smiles. comes with accessories of hair brush and rubber bands and a white iphone. omg. where can i get me one??! 🤣*
loved how prem's voice sounded brilliantly drowsy as he warned heer that he was falling asleep. loved how there was a naughty little twist to heer's mouth as she concentrated on tying up those silky black strands into a bunch. i was just amazed that she didn't have those colourful pom-pom-wala bands to put on his hair! 🤣 and then, the way she watched gleefully holding his face to see his reaction in the mirror. and the super way in which his eyes open (truly sleepy! 🤣) and then widen to see the childish hair-do framing that oh-so-manly-stubbly-face!
but what i loved most -- truly the most -- was the laughter in their eyes. that laughter, starting truly from their eyes, and dissolving into the tip-tilt of their lips was really made this a horribly short flashback for me. why could we just not have had one more second of that flashback? why could we not have had one more second of that mirth? *of course, it helps that we'd have seen heer drop into prem's lap and get wrapped up in his arms. 😍😆*

if there is one line that i totally despise in all these triangular love stories is when someone (inevitably) says: bahut dher ho chuki hai.

i now think ash (ash08) is right: there isno point hoping for a great continuation to this love story. it's been taken over by robotic cut-and-paste-r's of every other show seen so far.
'cause of all the people on earth, it was defeatist of heer to say this. heer! the one who did everything and anything for prem. and who will probably do anything and everything for prem!
how on earth is she giving up on giving prem love? how? how can she ever think that a mistake can be rectified by walking away, by not making up for it -- even if it takes the rest of her life?
that should only true if heer knows she doen't want to spend the rest of your life making it up to him. (which is impossible to imagine for heer. ) or if she knows that she doesn't have any time to make it up to him.
and both of these will in no way be something that the cut-and-pasters will have imagined, isn't it??
y'know? i have not had a problem with anything that heer has ever said in this show so far -- ever. and i am not saying that lightly. i have understood, appreciated, loved and even admired, everything that heer has ever said and done.
i hated this defeatist attitude. even when heer was searching to walk away from prem in ajmer, she was not being defeatist. there she was fighting against something that she thought was impossible to solve -- pbauji's hate for her father.
but here? here, it is all in her own darned hands. (those hands which are part of phhandooh, darnit!) and she is walking away??! 😲
