I don't actually know why I wrote this one shot, because the idea isn't really solid, and the song doesn't totally go, but meh? Hope whoever reads it enjoys it! 😳

Prem put down his phone before picking up the picture of Chahat that Heer had given him. His finger caressed the glass where her cheek was and he smiled. He had managed to get his daughter back finally. Heer had given him the most precious gift he could have ever received. Now all he needed was his wife to be with him.

Bikhri Bikhri Si Zulfein Hain Kyun
Khoyi Khoyi Si Aankhein Hain Kyun

"Prem jiju! Neeche aaye, ma bula rahi hain." Meher's voice called up to him, snapping him out of his thoughts.

"Aabhi aaya Meher," Prem wiped away the tears near his eyes and walked down the grand stairs only to find his mother sitting on the sofa with his father next to her. "Ji?"

"Kya hua Prem?" Gayatri asked. "Tu mujhse baat kyun nahin kar raha?"

Prem sighed before looking down at his father. "Bauji kuch kaam tha?"

"Prem, teri ma ne tujhse kuch poocha hain," Lalit frowned.

"Bauji, mujhe yeh sawal ka jawab nahin dena. Main bahar ja raha hoon," Without another word Prem turned on his heel and walked up to his room to change into pants and a shirt from his white kurta.

Ghum Ka Yeh Pal Guzar Jaayega,

Phir Koi Humsafar Aayega

The moment he stepped into his room his phone started ringing but when he saw the name of the caller his heart beat faster. Heer

"Hello?"

"Hi Prem?"

He glanced down and saw Gungun pulling on the edge of his kurta. "Ek minute Heer, Gungun ko kuch chaiye,"

"Okay,"

Prem put his phone down on his bed and picked up his niece. "Kya hua beta?"

"Mama ro rahi hain. Jaldi aaye," Gungun frowned before reaching up to grab his hand and pull him towards Meher and Preet's room.

Prem let Gungun lead him but he stopped outside the door and waiting after knocking.

"Jiju aap?" Meher opened the door and wiped at her tears.

"Meher, kya hua? Preet ne kuch kiya?" Prem put his hand on her shoulder.

"Nahin jiju." Meher sighed.

"Kya baat hain?"

"Didi,"

Heer. Wasn't that a surprise to him? It was always Heer.

"Kya kiya usne?" Prem asked.

"Kya nahin kiya. Main janti hoon ke woh aabhi bhi aap se hi pyar karti hain, lekin woh kehti nahin,"

Prem sighed and sat down on Meher's bed. "Woh to mujhe pata hain Meher,"

"Phir aap kyun Geet se shaadi kar rahe hain?" Meher questioned.

"Kyunki main chatha hoon ke Heer khud kuch kahe," Prem smiled up at Meher. "Lekin shayad ab humara pyar utna masboot nahin raha."

"Aisa mat kahiye jiju," Meher sighed. "Agar aap khud hi aisa kahenge, to baaki sab ka bhi vishwas uth jayega,"

"Kya karu main Meher?" Prem looked up into her eyes and she saw the hurt reflecting in it. He got up with a startle. "Arre! Main bilkul bhool gaya!"

"Kya?" Meher frowned.

"Heer ka phone tha! Aur jab Gungun aayi to maine phone chor diya," Prem rushed towards the door.

"Good luck jiju," Meher smiled.

Prem nodded before rushing back to his room. He saw the phone still face down on the bed and picked it up and saw it was still engaged. "Hello Heer?"

"Agli baar mujhe itni der wait karvaya na..." she trailed off.

A smile played on his lips. "To? Kya karogi?"

The taunting tone in his voice brought Heer back into the real world. "Ku—kuch nahin. Woh Prem mujhe tumse Chahat ki custody ke baare mein baat karni hain,"

All of Prem's hopes deflated when he heard that.

Bikhri Bikhri Si Zulfein Hain Kyun
Khoyi Khoyi Si Aankhein Hain Kyun
Ghum Ka Yeh Pal Guzar Jaayega,

Phir Koi Humsafar Aayega

"To baar karlo," Prem sighed.

"Aise nahin Prem. Hum mil sakhte hain?"

"Haan—ek ghante main woh garden restaurant mein?"

Heer agreed and they both hung up with each other, both of them excited but still dreading the meeting.

Beete Pal Bhool Ja,

Woh Pal Nahi Hain Kahi

Heer stepped into the restaurant and her heart started beating faster. She could feel this meeting becoming something she'd never forget now.

She walked in the direction the usher led her in and she could feel him staring at her and slowly she looked up and felt herself being pulled towards his chocolatey eyes.

Layenge Pal Naye,

Ek Zindagi Phir Haseen

As she walked towards him she kept one thought in her head. Prem was to be with Geet now. Their chapter had finished six years back when she had left. Now they were just parents of Chahat. He'd be happy with Geet. They would have memories together and Heer would happily fade back.

"Hi Heer," Prem nodded at her before they both sat down. "Kya baat hain?"

"Tumhari shaadi hone wali hain," Heer stated.

Prem looked up and saw her fiddling with the napkin in her lap. "Bolo Heer. Nervous kyun ho rahi ho?"

She shook her head before looking up at him. "Main nervous nahin hoon."

"Phir? Bolo bhi." Prem leaned back in his seat.

"Tumhari shaadi hone wali hain aur main chathi hoon ke Chahat bhi tumhari zindagi mein ho," Heer sighed. "To main soch rahi thi ke tumhe adhi custody de doon."

Yeh Bheegi Palke Utha,

Yeh Soch Ke Muskura

Prem felt his heart crack. She was still adamant letting him marry Geet; he had thought this meeting was for her to confess her true feelings.

"Theek hain,"

"Main papers layi hoon," Heer said before digging into her bag and pulling out a file. "Yeh lo,"

Phir Chalegi Hawa Manchali,

Phir Se Mehkegi Koi Kali
Phir Koi Humsafar Aayega,

Dil Koi Geet Phir Gayega

Prem silently took the file from her hand and sighed before reading it over.

Father of the Child

Above it, he signed it and handed it back to her. "Yeh guardianship dene se kisi ko paata nahin chalega Heer?"

Heer took the papers back. "Main tumhari shaadi ke baad lawyer ko dungi," She stood up.

"Tum yeh kyun kar rahi ho Heer?" Prem said before she turned.

She slinked back into her seat. "Maine socha ke Chahat ko pa kar tum khush honge,"

Prem shook his head. "Yeh nahin. Tum kyun nahin kehti?"

"Kya?"

"Ke tum mujhse pyar karti ho!" Prem let out rather loudly before grasping her hand in his. "Main tumhare bina nahin reh sakhta,"

"Che saal to rehe na?" Heer said. "Yeh che saal hum dono alag the."

"Tum alag nahin thi mujhse. Tumhare paas Chahat thi,"

Raat Lambi Sahi,

Phir Bhi Yeh Ek Raat Hai

"Haan thi Chahat mere paas. Lekin yeh sab kyun hua Prem? Yaad hain tumhe?" Heer sneered at him. "Iss waqt mein Ashlesha ki baat bhi nahin kar rahi. Main Rajveer ki baat kar rahi hoon,"

The name still hurt Prem as he was reminded of the horrible things he had said to Rajveer that night. After that he had never heard nor seen from him again and Prem couldn't blame him. He wouldn't want to meet himself either.

"Heer main badal gaya hoon," Prem sighed.

"To?" Heer shook her head. "Prem kabhi kabhi badal jaana hi sab kuch nahin hota. Agar tumhe sach mein praschit (remorse) ho raha hain, to tum aise nahin kehte mujhe."

"Maine kya kaha?" Prem frowned.

"Ke agar main tumse pyar karti ho to main wapas aajaongi tumhari zindagi mein," Heer sighed. "Karti hoon main tumse pyar, lekin main aapni dost ko dhukh nahin de sakthi,"

Sach To Yeh Hai Ki Hona Hai Yoon,

Toh In Aakhon Mein Aansoo Hai Kyun

"Main Geet ko kehdunga. Geet samaj jayegi Heer." Prem pleaded.

"Lekin baaki sab..." Heer shook her head. "Main aapni khushi ke liye kisi aur ko udas nahin kar sakhti,"

Prem nodded. "Kar sakhti ho. Tum mujhe batao kya tumne kabhi bhi aapne aap ke liye socha hain?" Heer silently nodded. "Kab?"

"Jab maine tumhari baachi ko tumse door rakha," Heer let the tears fall.

"Think for yourself this time again. Humare parivaar ke liye Heer. Main tum aur humari Chahat. Aisa hi hona chaiye." Prem said quickly. "Warna hum milte hi nahin jab mein wapas aaye. Humare Rab hi hume milana chatha hain. Tum ek mauka to do?" Prem sighed.

"Ek mauka...?" Prem nodded. "Deh sakhti hoon," Heer softly smiled seeing the wide grin on Prem's face who immediately lifted her into his arms.

"Tumhe pata nahin ke aaj tumne mujhe kitna khush kiya hai!" Prem smiled at her.

Heer watched as Prem's smile grew wider and realized she was always too stubborn. Sure it was a good quality to have—but in times like this she needed to think of his happiness more than hers. His happiness and their daughters. Chahat would be elated to know that her mama and papa would be together forever now.

Ghum Na Kar Tu Jo Murjha Gaye,

Phool Khil Jayenge Phir Naye

All comments or criticism is welcome, because I already have tons of things I see wrong with this one! 😳
