Dear NDTV Imagine,
I would like to bring forward certain queries and views related to Kitani Mohabbat Hai. Firstly I would like to appreciate imagine for giving a chance to this wonderful soap to be aired on your channel.KMH is a lovely portrayal of strong emotions like love, sacrifice and has touched millions of hearts in a very short time. The main reason for this is that it reaches out to the youth of today and is like a breath of fresh air amidst hundreds of soaps which primarily cater to the middle-aged audience. KMH does not preach or convey heavy hearted social messages. It instead makes us feel the most subtle, baser emotions of life. Kmh is possibly the best serial your channel has ever aired and I feel happy to extend my heartiest regards to your channel
Having said so, I need to advance certain complaints which I feel should be addressed by you pronto. Firstly there are rumors everywhere that kmh is coming to an end on 25th September and Ndtv is not renewing their contract with Balaji Telefilm. To say the least, this is appalling. The reasons given by most sources are lack of trps and lining up of new shows by NDTV. Trps are a very dicey system which cannot be wholly relied upon. Firstly it takes into account roundabout 6000 households which form just a tiny part of Indian audience who watch soaps. Secondly even going by trps, kmh has always featured in the top 100 serials since its inception and has religiously been among the top 5 serials in NDTV Imagine itself. In fact lately it has seen a considerable rise in its tvr ratings and features mostly in the top 3 serials of the channel. KMH has maintained a consistency in its ratings and even the new serials introduced by your channel (meera and seeta geeta) have not been able to overtake kmh interms of tvr ratings. Thirdly none of serials have been able to cross the threshold of 2.0 in terms of tvr ratings. Lately, Bandini and KMH have been able to touch the 2.0 TVR rating so please take that into account. Fourthly, KMH has a huge crossover audience. People all over the world watch the serial and it's very unfair that this fact is not taken into account while monitoring the popularity of the serial. I plead earnestly that please take global audience into view before making a decision on ending contract with Balaji Telefilms.
The other problem which I feel you should be addressed is the fact that kmh promotion has been pretty lax which lately has been rectified to a certain extent. Please show more repeats of Kmh just like the way you show for your other shows. Kmh even being in the late night slot brings in a large percentage of your trps so you should promote it more so that it gets the due credit it deserves. If you want to accommodate new shows, you can fill up the afternoon slots or axe shows which have failed to do anything for your channel. But please, understand that axing KMH can anger your loyal audience and many people can even snap NDTV subscription.
I would be greatly obliged if you could kindly regard the above points before axing or shutting down KMH. I will eagerly wait for your response and Il be grateful if you could kindly clear the rumours about ending of kmh contract in October.
Regards,
Pallabika Mitra
