Chapter 5
--------------------------
Heer was driving frantically, she had no idea where she was going. It was dark and she couldn't think straight. Prem was lying next to her barely conscious. She needed to get Prem to a hospital..she needed to get some help..but where she didn't even know where she was going. She couldn't turn back since she know that she would get stuck in the traffic jam. She saw some light ahead, and got hopeful, it was the hotel that Prem and her were supposed to stay for the night in Dehradun. She pulled in and rushed to the reception and asked for help. They sent someone with her who could take her to the closest hospital.

The doctor was looking at Prem, she was waiting outside, she kept pacing back and forth, nothing would happen to him, everything would be fine. ..she couldn't lose Prem, what if something happened to him..she was so rude to him all the time and he was always caring..what if that is the last conversation she ever had with him..NOooo..it couldn't be. She jumped when the nurse came up to her and spoke to her.
"Sorry didn't mean to startle you." the nurse said to her. "I need you to do some paperwork completed. Please fill these out", the nurse handed her the paperwork. She quickly completed the documents and handed them to her. The nurse checked them and turned to her and said "Don't worry, your husband will be fine." Heer turned to her and looked at her thankfully.
Heer kept waiting pacing, the time would not pass, what was taking so long, if things were fine it shouldn't be taking this long..what was going on. The doctor finally came out to see her.
"There is nothing to worry, we have put in some stitches, and ran a CT scan, because it was a head injury. The results will be coming in the morning as of now I don't see any issues. I have given him some pain killers, he did take a big hit on the head, so he will be in some pain for the next few days. You can go in to see him.
"Thank you doctor", Heer ran into Prem's room. He looked so helpless on the bed, she went to his bed and sat there, tears were uncontrollable now. He was in pain the doctor told her, had she not given enough pain, that he need this, she held his hand and told herself, she would not waste any more..she would not leave his side for second.

Prem woke up and felt his head throbbing, like he was run over by a truck, then he remembered why his head hurt. He tried to lift his to relieve some of the pain in his head, it was then he felt Heer's hand in his. He looked to see Heer, she had her hand held tightly around his and was sleeping with her head on the bed, sitting on the chair. Prem forgot all about his pain and continued to look at Heer, she looked so beautiful, so peaceful as she slept.
"Good morning, Mr Prem." the doctor greeted him, entering into the room. Heer woke up and slipped her hand out of his and moved away. Prem cursed the doctor for coming, what was his big hurry.
"I got the results of your CT scan and it looks good, but you took a very hard beating on the head and don't want you to exert yourself, you will be on pain killers for a week and need to also have complete bed rest for a week. See Mrs Juneja, I told you there was nothing to worry and to go back to your room and rest, but refused and spent the night here."
Prem turned to Heer and looked at her, his Heer was all he could see. If this was all it took, he would have knocked himself on the head gladly much earlier he thought and smiled.
"Mrs Juneja, I have gotten the discharge papers together, but please take care that he not exert himself, he will be light headed for a few days and I understand you are from Delhi, so I would advice against traveling for a few days also."
The doctor left, it was just them now. Heer got up, "I will get you something to eat and take care of the formalities"
"Heer wait" Prem held her hand, she turned to face his, there was no irritation or annoyance in her face, just full of care and concern for him in those eyes.
"Take my credit card from the wallet, you will need it for the payments." She nodded and left.

Prem felt silly being pushed in a wheel chair, he was perfectly capable of walking, but Heer wouldn't hear it. She told him this was the only way and if he didn't listen then she wouldn;t let the doctor discharge him. He obliged, it felt nice how she bossed over him, the right he took with him, like his wife, also he didn't want to be stuck in the Hospital, he wanted to go home. He would have Heer all to himself caring for him for the next few days and he wanted to stay at home for that instead of the hospital.
Heer had called to make reservations for a cottage instead of the hotel so that it felt more like home. She would take care of Prem, she knew how stubborn he could be and careless with his health. She had already called Jasmeet aunty and let her know that she had to extend her stay due to bad weather, and some additional things she wanted to check, she couldn't obviously tell her the truth.

That's all for now...
