Surveen’s ensemble misfires at SA

'I was a replacement'

Putting all this talk to rest, Surveen said that the short golden dress wasn't her first choice for the night.

"I had no issues being called in as a replacement. In fact when I learnt Anita (Hassandani) has backed out due to her sty problem, I readily decided to step in when asked. I love dancing and performing on stage."

Chawla adds that her focus was on finding something that was loud. "I wanted to wear something that matched the flavour of the song. It had to attract attention and be loud. So I thought the golden dress would fit really well with the theme."

Not enough time

But didn't she look out of the place compared to her other three female co-stars — Shilpa Saklani, Juhi Parmar and Shweta Tiwari? "They had ample time to decide what they would be wearing. I got my outfit at 11 am in the morning on the night of the final performance. I even tried to check with Anita's designer, but that never happened.

So I decided to take the responsibility in my own hand by trying various options like Vikram Phadnis and some other people. I couldn't even wear a cat suit since it has to be made well in advance. My major concern was the time, as I didn't have a lot at hand."

No issues

In spite of not being able to wear something of her own choice, Surveen is still happy with her overall experience. "I think I did my best, and have no major issues with the show. It was fun working with Zayed, he's damn energetic and a great performer."

She adds that there was a bit of fumbling on her side during the performance. "Of course I was a bit nervous and even made a small error in the steps once, but it wasn't anything major."
