| I was a tad unsure as it was a Saif-Kareena movie and didn't see how I'd fit in. So he just told me to read the script and I did. After reading it, I was like, 'Thank you but why me man?' It was a fantastic script. And he told me that he believed in me and that I could do something awesome with that role. I was so touched. It's a very interesting and fantastically commercial film," he explains. Speaking of Saif and Kareena, someone who saw the film's promos recently commented that the focus was entirely on the uber-cool couple and Vivek hardly figured in it. Considering he knew the spotlight would be on them, is he still upset at having been left out in the sidelines and going unnoticed? "If they don't notice me in the film, it means I've done a really bad job because it's a fantastic role. Then I have only myself to blame for it. It's a role that any actor in this industry would give an arm for. I was amazed at how supportive Saif was, despite being the senior star and leading man of the film. It was an absolute joy to see actors so secure who allow you to do your thing and play the supporting part. I'm actually not going to say much and wait for the film to release because when you're so confident about something, you should just let your work speak for itself. I'm not in the least worried. Also, Karan has been incredible. My introduction in the film was supposed to be a simple one and I didn't have any problem. But Karan re-worked it as he felt the character deserved more and he spent a lot of money and effort on it," he says, sounding touched and happy. We veer the conversation back to Saif and Bebo and I can't help but ask about how the media was abuzz that Kareena was advising him to find a nice girl and settling down. He breaks into an infectious grin and I can't wait to hear more. Obliging me he says, "Actually, it's all Saif's fault. He kept telling on me having gone out with various girls. And I was like, why are you telling her all that. 😆The truth is that I'm just a verbal flirt. I get a little shy when things go beyond a certain limit. So when Saif told Kareena all this, she was literally short of holding my ear. She told me, 'Enough now. Find a nice girl and settle down with her'. So when she and Saif were going for their holiday, I gifted her a really sweet book on romance and poetry. And I wrote in it saying, 'I promise you I'll find a nice girl and settle down as soon as I'm done with all the bad girls'.😆 I even asked her to find me someone but she said, 'I'm not risking my name and reputation'. It was all in fun," he gleefully reminisces. from vivek oberoi's stardust interview.... |
