Aamir plays the lead in wife's film !!

Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao makes her directorial debut with Dhobi Ghaat. So far, the popular notion was that Prateik Babbar, who played Genelia's brother in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, plays the film's lead while Aamir has just a guest role. But that was just an eye-wash to keep the real cast of the film under wraps.

It has now come to the fore that Aamir plays a full-fledged role in the film. The actor himself confirmed it on his blog.

"…yes the cat is finally out of the bag. I am playing one of the leads in Kiran's film Dhobi Ghat. The reason we kept this under wraps is that she didn't want to attract much attention towards her film. She wanted to make this film on real locations with a tiny crew, very guerilla style," Aamir wrote.

Aamir added that the strategy worked because no one, not even the media, got to know that he was playing the lead until the shooting was over.

"…we had to do it very quietly. And for once we managed to keep a secret from the media, at least until we finished the shoot," he wrote.

Aamir has also finished the shooting of Raju Hirani's film 3 Idiots. Only a song remains to be shot. It will be canned in September.
