Hi all,

The show Shakuntala is all over and all of us truly missing it so much.

Most of us want a remake, some want new show with same jodi and there are numerous other options open. But what matters most is whether the dailies should have some pre defined number of episodes? As for all of us the end of Shakuntala so early was a kind of shocking news. If we will generalize it then it may be a different soap for somebody else but then also the same feeling will be there. We all are viewers of some shows and some of the shows are our favourite show and when we watch our fav show we definitely don't want the show to end earlier than its due course of time. This becomes more important for mythological n historical dramas particularly coz there u just can't change the story as you like. In serializing an epic the creators have to do a lot of research work so that the show in anyway should not hurt the sentiments of the viewers by deviating from the main storyline.

Again we've experienced so many dailies which were dragged so much that ultimately they lost all the charm and the viewers also lost the interest in watching the show. And some shows like Shakuntala has to end earlier due to some reason or other. If the dailies can have some predefined number of episodes then probably the viewers won't have to suffer like to watch an early ending or lack of interest due to too much dragging. (I've read an article where it s been mentioned that Rani Padmini of Sony TV has 104 episodes and hence we can at least expect that there wont be any such prob what we had for Shakuntala here.)

I must say one thing here that being the producers or directors or the channel on which its being aired on if there are some genuine reasons to end or extend a show then we don't have any say over there. But the tragic thing is that the viewers never come to know the true reason of this kind of event and they became the ultimate victims.

N.B. (But here I need to say that exceptions are there for everything in life!) Though being viewers we don't have any control on it but at least we can share our views on the matter.

So plz do share your precious views!

i agree with you. Thr Rani padmini show has been shot keeping the decided number of episodes in mind and the audience has been informed. and where shakuntala is concerned they dragged the beginning and den rushed past the end. meaning that the viewers saw more of the deviations instead of the real story.
and on star one only a lot of show hav been aired like choona hai aasman and annu ki hogaye wah bhai wah which soon ended yet some show are still going on though they have no proper plot left and are therefore doing anything they can to keep the show going!!!

Here , the matter is Different... When They Producers or creaters give particular time to end the show like in 100 or 120 episodes they ended it and make the serial according to it ..... but in Shakuntala as the serial was mythological it was going to be very long but it didnt garned so much trps... and in todays television industry it matters the most... i know some of the shows are dragged .. For Eg... Dil mil gaye i know its trps arent so good but still its poular among the youth so its still doing well and is in the 2nd position.... As far As Shakuntala is concerned it didnt gathered so much attention neither its characters became so much popular or Viewiers didnt accepted the Story.. Sorry... what i noticed i tld you.. some are genuine fans of Shakuntala one of them is you... Shakuntala was a nice serial but i think its the TRPS Game i guess!!

Well there can not be predefined number of episodes. As most of the case is serial go on as long as it catch the interest of viewers. Even PRC, if you see was excellent in start...every thing was perfect..actors, background song, dresses, cute scenes...but then when they spoiled it and showed hide n seek n choohey billi ka khel n rona dhona trps fell down..they had to windup. Although end of prc was emotional and good..but still I believe there was much left to show in prc like prc n sanyo enjoying after wedding n having kid n story of mir hussein etc
Shakuntala was also going great, but Sagars instead of showing some thing interesting n unique tried to make it like typical serial in which there is vamp who is extra smart n lovers who are so stupid, that every time they fell in trap and still believe vamp to be sincere, such type of blunders cause trps to fell down n channel demands serial to went off air.

i also agree with you ritu...........yes they can hav an assumption to hav a 100or this much no. of episodes as for the mythological stories b'cause one can not change the story line according to his or her will, unlike the other daily soaps whose story is built by the creatives.Knowing the defined episodes the pace of serial can be predicted so there will b no hurry or dragging.as in the case of shakuntala i think that they thought to stretch for long so they started dragging it,as a result people lost there interest and TRP fell down. But if they won't hav done so n sticked to the story line with predefined pace,it would hav succeeded..............therefore in the case of ehtical serials we can hav predefined no. of episodes(thats my opinion).....!
