India to overtake US, Japan in economic growth by 2050😃

Emerging economies, including India, will overtake the developed countries in economic growth by 2050, with the popularity of India and China as investment destination is rising while the attractiveness of Europe and North America is slipping, says a study.😳

"The seven new global powers by 2050 will comprise the so-called BRIC economies (Brazil, Russia, India and China) together with Indonesia, Mexico and Turkey," says the Ernst and Young European Attractiveness Survey 2007.

These seven emerging countries would overtake the economies of the G7 countries -- Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United States -- in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) but whether India can develop its infrastructure at pace with that of global investment remains to be seen, the survey added.😊

The developing economies will outdo the G7 if it manages to mend the loopholes regarding transparency, fairness and infrastructure development.

India's popularity is rising as 26 per cent respondents said the country is amongst their top three preferences in 2007 whereas the figure was just 11 per cent in 2004.

The survey highlights that with intensifying competitive cost pressure, companies across the world would resort to offshore services and manufacturing to lower cost and higher growth economies such as China and India.😳

One company in five intends to relocate all or part of its European activities outside the region and for this they look forward to the Asian countries.😊

"China attracts the interest of 50 per cent of respondents currently undergoing a relocation search, while India is considered by 30 per cent of voters," the survey said.😃

Ok i don't know if its time to party yet.....
First there are lot of things to set right before this can actually happen... Also which paper wrote this article??
One of the main things that needs to be set for me is Infrastructure. See the companies could come in but if the infrastructure is not right then its of no use.
second is the big issue of terrorism - how we handle that because that could frighten the heck out of lot of people..
There are lot of other points major as well as minor.. but i would be interested to hear what other people think would be the pathway to achieve this...

Terrorism & growing unrest in the Asian subcontinent is an important factor to consider. India will have to address this problem both internal & external

I'd agree with the last two posts....

It is time to party, but not yet....

Why, even in the article, it says so... "but whether India can develop its infrastructure at pace with that of global investment remains to be seen, the survey added"

I guess that's one answer no one could give at this point! Its not really about whether they can or not, its about whether they would do it or not!!... Remains to be seen... Even not being an Indian resident, I feel if India and China learn to walk hand in hand at the right pace and take the right decisions, they have the brains and the ideas to take over the world's reigns... Lets just hope the people behind it know what and where to do.... ;))

Furthermore, as Shantu Di said, terrorism is, definitely is, an issue India has to overcome... I don't say eliminate, because that, having enemies all around won't be possible for the time being... But we should definitely have better resources to deal with it....

I also feel one point India has never really tried to treat is the poverty and population rate in the country. Steps are seen to be taken, but actions never executed. Politicians keep saying its a big issue, and would take time, but if no one ever starts, how will we solve it?... Its high time India keeps aside a few baseless matters and tries dealing that problem... Once that is reduced to a maximum, all other problems will definitely be solved I think, including unemployment or illiteracy, which are co-factors!....

Cheers,
Sneha

Really?
India's economy is not even as large as California's!
Wait till the size of the economy becomes as big as the US, something that will never happen, even after 4050. When the size of an economy is as large as that of the U.S., growth rates are harder to come by.
