This problem is very old & ongoing problem in Pakistan. To be an unwed mother is very shameful & sinful in our religion but when the girls & boys get involved with so called LOVE RELATIONSHIP they just cross all the limits & as there is no sex education over there they dont even know how to be safe with unwanted pregnancy, first of all it is just a big NO in our religion but still these kids dont understand it & get carried over with their emotions. But when they end up with a baby it will become a last resort for them to involve in a bigger sin & kill the baby, in the past which I think was more better then doing one more sin was that they were leaving the newborn in the hospital & running away without any notice, most of the time they were moving away from city to city just to save their respect & babies were ending in Kashan-e-atfal & up for adoption but still their were ppl who were leaving the newborn wrapped in a plastic bag throw away in the garbage, then Edhi trust started the Jhoolna program, they open the centre & put the empty craddles in the front, their r no cameras & nobody is watching u, u can go there, put the baby in the craddle & ring the bell once by the craddle & just go away. they were making appeals to leave the babies at JHOOLNA if u dont want the baby & then they were getting 2-3 babies every day & those babies were up for adoption, their r so many families who just want to have a baby of their own but they r not able to conceive & there is a long waiting list of couples who want to adopt a baby, but these days it is happening again, in last one month their r more then 5 dead babies found from the garbage dumps.
I know all these details as one of my friend was working as a OBgyn at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi & she was telling me how many newborn were left behind by their mothers & my cousin adopt a baby girl from Kashana-e-Atfal after a long wait.

ohh my god its jst so sad..i dont know how a mother can leave her baby in a garbage or how cans she kill her baby..its jst beyond my imagination to kill a baby those ppl does not have heart..Allah will punish them

well sarah u all so young to know how this world is, I dont know either how a mother can do this, actually what happens its not the mother in all cases but the family of that unwed mother who just want to keep it a secret, these girls r so young that they didnt even know when they get pregnant that what is happening with them & when they come to know its too late to have that baby aborted, usually it happens in the lower class ppl with no education & no way to go, I m so much experienced & my eyes have seen it all & yes I got some feed back from my husband & my MIL(may her soul rest in peace) as my FIL was a Dr, he is now retired 7 was practicing in the Landhi area for 40 years & he was telling all kind of stories to my MIL, I was so sad & seriously in tears when I was listening to these stories, some of these poor girls were raped by their own step fathers, step brothers & uncles & got pregnant, one of the sadest story was about a baby who was born & then the family starved him to death. pata nahi Allah k ghar in logon ka kiya hashar hona hay laikin yaqeen karo tum logon nay kuch nahi dekha jo kuch in gunahgaar aankhon nay dekha hay, Allah maaf karay aur hamari aakhrat ko aasaan karay.Ameen

jst by reading ur post my eyes were in tears i can imagine how u felt when u heard it or saw it..its takes lots of guts for one to do that wat u told may Allah show us the rite path n may we never ever go through with that experience.
