Hi all
The ancient tradition of Swyamvara in this modern age of which people have no values for the old traditions and customs which have been good for ages. Are we living in 21st century or still in BC to have this kind of swamvar. Distasteful way of getting married!!?
Is these guys are soooo scared!!! or Mad!!! 😳 it seems y'all will happily marry bobby darling rather than rakhi sawant!! I think only man surviving rakhi's gruelling tests to finally say NO to marry rakhi, how about a twist in the tale!!
Whats your views about Swyamvar!!

in ancient India, was a practice of choosing a life partner, among a list of suitors by a girl of marriageable age. Swayam in Sanskrit means Self and Vara means choosing or wanting.

In this practice, the girl's father decides to conduct the Swayamvara of the daughter at an auspicious time and venue, and broadcasts the news of this to the outside world. Kings, typically used to send messengers to outside lands whereas commoners arranged to spread the news within the local community.

On the appointed day and venue, a list of suitors arrive at the girl's home and ask for her hand. The girl and her family get to choose among the suitors, sometimes through evaluating the completion of various tasks assigned. When the girl identifies the husband of her choice, she garlands him and a marriage ceremony is held immediately.

Judging by what I have read so far, this 'swyamvar' could be termed as a type of (if not fully) arranged marriage, then, right? If so, then the system doesn't sound much convincing to me (minor note: before anyone starts jumping at my throat for even suggesting this, let me make it clear that I wouldn't have supported this process had it been a guy choosing his wife amongst many), because, if you want to have an arranged marriage, then go ahead and complete all the necessary steps that are needed to be taken for an arranged marriage. How is the bride suppose to know which groom would fit best for her?

But meh, to each his own.
