It appears that the out of control Twilight Saga media attention and the incessant New Moon hounding by the press and young Twilight fans is finally starting to deflate the early excitement that Robert Pattinson enjoyed after Twilight hit theaters. As MTV reports, even New Moon co-stars of Pattinson are starting to worry about the safety and well being of Robert who plays Edward Cullen in the Stephenie Meyer based Twilight Saga. One New Moon member of the Twilight crew in particular, Mike Welch, who plays Mike Newton in both Twilight and New Moon, expressed concern for Robert Pattinson this week to MTV after Newton sat down for an interview on Tuesday only to learn that Pattinson narrowly avoided being hit by a taxi cab on a break from shooting Remember Me in New York City while trying to dodge a rabid mob of teen Twilight fans.
After the Twilight gang over at MTV filled Mike Welch in on the Robert Pattinson New York taxi incident, New Moon actor Welch revealed the worries he has for the health of Robert Pattinson, with Twilight hope that the extreme New Moon mania eventually sunsides to a manageable level. Upon viewing a video that showed Robert Pattinson trying to flee a sobbing gaggle of fans, Mike Welch responded, "I don't see how this is sustainable - is this gonna keep going for the rest of his life? I understand it, it's Edward Cullen, I get it. But he's still Rob Pattinson first - he's still his own guy. Is it time to start getting concerned here?"
In terms of the future public life of Robert Pattinson post Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, Twilight Saga actor Mike Welch also revealed that Pattinson isn't the type of person to remove himself from the outside world, but this level of Twilight fame is putting a cramp in his laid back style, "He's an actor who likes to prepare out in public - he likes to read a script at a coffee shop where there's people walking by and there's noise; he prepares that way. And he can't really do that anymore. It's tough, man ... I don't know where his life is really headed."
Although the Twilight Saga has become increasingly popular by the day, the life and death of Michael Jackson should certainly force people, including Twilight fans, to step back and take a hard look at the price people pay for being famous. And when you can't control fame, as it appears with Twilight actor Robert Pattinson, an out of control celebrity world can be a lonely place to live for the rest of your life. But given the Twilight Saga mania and recent taxi incident with Robert Pattinson in New York City within such a celebrity desired culture, it raises the interesting psychological question of why people want to be famous to begin with? In some cases, as we're sure Robert Pattinson would agree on some days, be careful what you wish for.
