Sony to pump up prime time with ITV's I'm A Celebrity

MUMBAI: Sony Entertainment Television (Set), which has recently revamped its prime time programming, has acquired British broadcaster ITV's popular celebrity reality show I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

The channel is expected to premiere the Indianised version of the show in second week of July this year, replacing talent show Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega.

Entertainment Ke Liye…, which is airing Monday-Friday at the 10 pm slot, is planned for a six-week airing, a source in Sony says. The one-hour show has garnered a peak TVR of 1.3 in its second week of run, according to Tam data.

The Indian version will be shot in Hindi at Malaysia's Taman Negara rainforest. The show will air for a duration of two months.

"We have acquired the rights for one year and the show will bow in July on Sony TV," the source adds.

Miditech and ITV's unit Silverback Productions will co-produce the show.

The format of I'm a Celebrity… demands 10 celebrities to live in jungle conditions with few comforts; they will have to earn human essentials.

Originally, the show was launched on ITV in UK in 2002. The brand has generated more than 170 million from production, distribution and format deals. It recently launched on NBC in the US and Swedish broadcaster TV4 will launch it later this year.

I have seen the promos of this new show on Sony.....but only 6 weeks of EKLKBK?? This is already the end of the 3rd week! I'm gonna miss this show!

yes same here but it might be back for it second season later on next year.

so the rich celebrities will get richer & richer & richer!!

Shows which do not have celebrities like EKLKBK but promote talent from common citizens and give them a platform run short. TRAGEDY!

By the description of the new show it seems its another faltu reality show to hit TV with faltu celebrities with likes of that of sambhavna seth,rakhi sawant etc,who cannot earn through talent cos they dont have any so end up in shows like this,act as jokers & earn.

In dus ka dum also,it thrives on celebreties,WHERES THE REALITY WITHOUT COMMON FOLKS PARTICIPATING IN IT?!!!

Arre let common people also earn something,Like wat KBC did to citizens of this country!!

INDIAN TV adapts reality shows/talk shows concepts from the west but cannot adapt to their telecating schedule.i.e for e.g is there any need to telecast EKLKBK mon-fri,cant they telecast it 2days or even once a week?...these guys r greedy for TRPS and hence money,thus ignoring the quality.

ALmost each and every series on INDIAN TV,desi or regional its mon-fri....then logically EKLKBK tow 2 months hi chalega na!!!

Mayb our audience is also impatient,lekin ye aadat tow indian TV ne hi lagai na.

I'm of this genration but i think i luved those MALGUDI DAYS more in the 80's when i was in school.malgudi,hum log were aired once a week.

i understand that at that time there were 2 channels only and now there r 200,but then isnt USA running on 400 channels,still most of their shows r once a week with good TRP!

Our attitude is like 'bhook nahi tabhi bhi muh me thooso,bharo!'..choke hoga to bhi chalega,v want the bloddy TRP's!

ONCE A WEEK CONCEPT is almost gone from INDIAN TV,i'm waiting for that to come back.

BOOGI-WOOGIE is the only prog running successfully for 13.5 yrs which is aired twice a week.Thanx to patience and handling by javed-naved-ravi.

In usa DONAHUE aired for 25 yrs,oprah is still on.In india shekhar suman conducts his show for a year and wraps it,its not shekhars fault,its the fault of the producers,the pressure leave aside the qulaity,they need quantity!

Look at jay leno,david letterman etc.

I know there r people in this industry who would be thinking about quality and to make INDIAN TV a betta place but then they have their bosses like EKTA KAPOOR,so..LET IT BE!!
