second was more general... that i did not think people were putting down younger generation but obviously they would defend their favourites... and that i was not at all surprised to see them... LOL...

Its sad that in bollywood, once an actress reaches her 30's its considered pack time..especially when they have just got experience and matured as an actress...for instance, Aishwarya was a terrible actress when she started out, but now she has definitely improved. In that ways hollywood is much better. The top actors are all in their 40's and actresses in their mid 30's. We also Had Meryl Steep perform such a woman oriented role in Mamma Mia, where the men jst had very little to do!! When is bollywood ever going to change??

Madhur Bhandarkar is the one of the only directors who makes female oriented movies...

FOr example, Page 3 had konkona sen as the lead and it did well !
Chandni Bar had Tabu as the lead and it won the national award!

And latest being Corporate and Fashion - both of which are pretty strong author backed roles written for female actors. And they did work! I won't say they went out to be super duper blockbusters but it did do a decent job.

So it's not like audiences are not welcoming such movies. They will definitely like to watch such movies BUT only if they are made. Apart from Fashion, i don't know which other movie was a female-oriented film in 2008.

I know Laaga chunari mein daag didnt work for Rani but it was coz of the script.. I felt Rani was very good in the movie. She at least deserved a nomination. But because the film flopped, makers are scared to take a risk to make a film, backing it up solely with a female celebrity.

Like these days they can have movies like Rock On and Dil Chahta which focus on friendship - why don't we see things like Har dil jo pyar karega anymore? That also had to do with friendship! Man, i am dying to see Rani and Preity on screen together again.
