dear harshad and aditi,
(i would have said hc and ag, but pcp thinks it's too cold and formal for her 😆)
i'm not one for fan mail. i figure i really have no clue who you guys really are. all i know are your acts. and despite what pcp says, i think all of what we get to see are ''acts''. i mean, how can anyone be their real self when there's a camera recording stuff in your face all the time? i dunno. so i just figure that some of the time you are acting prem/heer. and some of the time you are acting harshad/aditi-in-public.
i haven't seen too much harshad/aditi-in-public. but pcp delights in telling me about you guys. and here's what i think i understand:
* you are inherently very normal, level headed people. i'm told harshad once said that between you two, there's a baniya and a marwari? 😆 what a lovely give-away of who you guys are off-camera. 'cause that's too honest thing to say as an act, i figure. 😆 and i think it speaks volumes of what a cool partnership you guys have going between the two of you.
* between the two of you, i figure both of you, aditi and harshad are thinking actors -- there is sooo much discipline that you bring to bear in your roles of prem-and-heer. i figure though that harshad's the leader. and aditi's willing to learn. add one really important ingredient: both of you work beautifully well together. and man, is that important. i spent all of last semester working on a play with 12 people -- and it was sooo hard, 'cause we had ''three thinking leaders'' and in the end, the effort was much more than the rewards.
i have no clue, of course, but i thought the awards night speech was a lovely demonstration of your partnership. i loved how you were proper and formal on the podium. i loved how you guys had a twinkle in your eyes as you accepted your awards. i loved how it looked like the rest of the show looked totally like ... the sugar-syrup superficiality of boiled sweets wrapped in plastic. but you two? you two were real fruit -- alphonso mangoes, royal, rich and oh-so-real. i loved how you guys kept it short. i loved how you co-ordinated your list. i loved how you thanked each other -- it made me smile when harshad said aditi and aditi said harshad.
btw, thank you so very much for having chosen to specially thank ekta kapoor and garry bhinder out of the whole kdmhmd team. i figure none of us ever thank mz. kapoor for having plucked the two of you out of ten thousand other possibles, and put the two of you together, out of thousand other choices! and of course, mr. bhinder -- who i figure is the real driving force behind the creation of the phenomenon of prem-heer. the one who i bet was responsible for that amazing phhandooh in the jail -- something that started making me watch this show for prem and heer. 'cause i'd never ever seen anything as phenomenal as that on tv before. and haven't quite seen it after that either. 😆
so, i don't really know whether this figures as a love letter. never really written one before. i've never spent so much time before thinking 'bout people who i've never met or will most likely never meet. who i only know through watching you on a show playing characters someone else has created.
it's just that as i watched the spa awards show, i found myself caring enough about the two of you to think how rotten it must feel to sit through an awards show, where you have been nominated for awards that you totally deserved but didn't get out of prejudice against the producer of your show. i felt totally horrible for aditi not getting an award 'specially given how she carried the show on her shoulders while harshad was ''not there''. i felt less horrible for harshad 'cause i suspect he is the one who insists on making prem wear those horrible undershirt thingies on the show! (ya, it's a real grouse! would you please stop wearing those stoooooopid things, puhleeeeaase??! 🤣)
i guess i wanted to say that despite the awards being so blatantly biased, it felt remarkable that you walked off with the award for best couple on screen. which was rewarding the really hard work and effort you've both put into making prem and heer work.
my pal and i would like to end this by offering some unsolicited thoughts on your future career paths. we apologise in advance if you think that is really none of our business (which it isn't, of course..)
aditi, you rock. in so many ways. you look fantastic - every bit of you. my pal says that you remind her of madhubala, and i agree with her. you have that same timeless grace. you have the ability to be as versatile. and we hope like crazy that one day we get to see you and harshad as anarkali and salim in mughal-e-azam! 😳 but we also think that you should actually go back to school to finish your degree. you can afford to take the time off 'cause you are too good for people to ignore if/when you want to come back.
harshad, you're a remarkable guy. there's this aura of tight discipline around you that is just incredible. we hope you are having fun in addition to feeling satisfied that you are getting where you had hoped to reach when you started. we hope that graph is going the way you planned -- 'cause s'how we get the feeling that you did draw that graph when you started! 😆
there's not much to say/suggest to you 'xcept... um... y'know? if there are offers that come which pair you and aditi again, would you please not automatically say no? please? 'cause you two are truly magical. and while you will probably be great acting with other people too, what you and aditi have is something quite out of this world. truly. you guys got truly lucky when you got slotted for prem-and-heer. not just 'cause you struck it off so well together. but you also got the benefit of working with such a remarkable director. it'd be a shame not to use whatever you learnt from prem-and-heer in other roles together. seriously. 😳
we wish you the best of life going forward. we wish you lots of work. we wish some of that will be together. 😆 we wish you more of the incredible luck that got you two to become prem-and-heer. we wish you all the fun that you can handle. and lots of real awards in life. hope to be always seeing you on screen -- big and small! bye.

i edited the post above 'cause shanta (shantaus) made me realise that ag playing heer is also the outcome of much mental discipline and understanding of who heer is. and she made me realise that i do not really understand what a ''natural'' actor is. is this a person who only needs a really good director, who will follow the directors thoughts and instructions and can produce a wonderful outcome? somehow, watching ag play heer even after garry bhinder's demise, makes me think that she had put as much thought and discipline into understanding heer and getting under heer's skin, as hc had put into understanding prem and getting under his skin. so if hc's a thinking actor, then ag definitely is one too. 'cause watching the way both prem and heer have grown through the show, it looks like hc and ag had a lot to making us understand them, in the past as well as today.
