The Democratic Front government in Maharashtra has decided to file a case against eight production houses currently making TV shows featuring child

Avika Gor and Avinash Mukherjee, the lead actors of Balika Vadhu

artistes.

These production houses will face legal action for violating provisions in the Child Labour Act.

Maharashtra labour minister Nawab Malik said earlier this week that the case would be filed in the Additional Metropolitan Magistrate court in Mumbai soon. He said the government was not satisfied with the replies submitted by the production houses to the notices sent to them a few months ago.

Production houses that'll face the heat are currently producing serials Balika Vadhu, Chak De Bachche, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Chhota Packet Bada Dhamaka, Uttaran, Maika, Shri Krishna and Chhote Ustad.

Currently, the shows are being telecast on Zee TV, Colors and NDTV Imagine. While Zee TV and NDTV Imagine air two shows each, Colors airs four.

JD Majethia, producer of Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, says, "We will respond to the notice after talking to our legal consultants. We haven't received the notice yet. Baa Bahoo Aur Baby is wrongly perceived as a children's show. We shoot with children only on Saturdays and Sundays, and if we require them to shoot on weekdays, it's only after school hours." Officials at Colors remained unavailable for comment

wts ur opinion abt legal action against production house which uses child actors !!!!!! 😉

I think its a wrong decision by the govt ......

why child actor life only?????????????????????????????/////

there are many nation wealth (children) who are dying in child labour in firms and companies.
is govt. only bothering about rich and famous children only???????????//😡😡😡
wat bout children who dying....................................... and to get life they work..................... and sometime doing harmful work they die............ recently there came an article of an 14yrs old boy who was saved by NGOs whi stuck in Mica Mines................ in shaft mines where carriers go down.......then send children to get mines stuff and if they die................ the firm dont even compensate their lives.....................
if govt. is so bother bout child education............ first think boout POOR CHILDREN...........!!!!!!!!!111
this is my opinion............. i dont wat others think...............................!!!!!!!!!!!!111

I think its an old article 😕......survey in BV and Uttaran sets did happen and then the govt was satisfied with the working conditions for Children there 😕........but according to me children should not be made an important part of any serial/show.......the poor dears dont even get time to play after their studies and on top of that making them work in a daily show is not right 😔

Nope........its todayzz news......the prods r being sued yest only !!!!! 😉

well.......I agree with both of u !!!!! Children don't get proper time for studies due to busy schedule .....

well........tat's a diff matter .....but they r not the only children who suffer ......there r lacs of innocent children work in diff sectors .....can not govt see that ..... its all rubbish thing to do ......

I think govt is rite.......👍🏼 (at times of course) 😳
if any PH makes a kid lead of their show...it will be come difficult for him/her to manage studies and shootings...
dey also shld get time to play .. cameos are ok... but lead role is stressful and children cant bear at this age 😒

Great i guess we can expect a leap in the show then 😆........but yup u are right child labor in many sectors and despite the law preventing child labor being made no one heeds to that law........i think survey should be made in all the sectors and not only TV /film industry........at least these kids are better off than the kids working in factories and workshops 😳......and strict action should be taken against them 😡

If the production houses make the children work so muchthey wont have time for other things(study,leisure even)

Children if required to b on screen regularly that is if they are main characters.....have to work hard off screen too

as for whether the Govt is right....i think i am no one to talk for it or against it

from decades they have been doing what they want whether publics likes it or not

Its not that way Govt is thinking .......

I was in Mumbai & I know the condition of children there ......lol

U will get to see thousands of children on roads working .....are not they children ??? 😕

the children working in Tellywood r more rich & capable than the one on slums !!!! first take care of them then think of Telly actors ..... 😡

I know they stress a lot ......but they r employed too.....but 1 thing they can not enjoy life like normal child !!!!!! 😒

@Mystic......yeah ......many industrial sectors use child labors ....they really suffer a lot ....but u know ....none cares .....neither Govt nor NGO's !!! 🥱 🥱

ya Mumbai has got many slums than any other city
well, as we know govt does only wht it wishes... they never care for da poor
by this atleast telly child actors will be relieved 😳

How idiotic! Why do people waste their time and energies on disrupting people's lives when there are other issues to tackle like poverty, education etc. First, moral policing and now this! If they wish to tackle child labour, all they need to do is get outta their homes and look around (or maybe, look in their homes itself!). There are millions of children who are working in pathetic conditions cuz they don't have the necessary funds for their education and living conditions are deplorable. In my opinion, the govt. should utilise their energies into the betterment of these slum kids instead of targeting the child actors onscreen who are more than happy working in their respective serials and earning the moolah for their families on their own terms. In case, of the slum kids, they don't have much choice, whereas child actors do their work willingly wid adequate remuneration and benefits.
Its high time, focus on insipid things were channelled into the appropriate directions.
