Hi again and thank you all for such a great run of DID. I had a great time on the show and must admit that I didnt anticipate this kinda overwhelming response to dance. Im glad that I consented to doing the show. Also Im happy that the word contemporary dance has become a house hold name and there has been a keen interest in this style of dance. What Naach cdnt do for contemporary dance, DID has done it. Id also admit that hadnt it been for a very forward thinking and young creative team from Zee and UTV, this show wd have been a dud.
Coming to you, well Some of the members(Akanna and few others alike) in the forum did stun me with their unbiased, honest and astute observation on the developments on DID eliminations and their take on several things. Some of the members who liked me on the show did quite a bit for me such as getting my pics loaded etc. Thank you. many of you were kind to say good things abt me. However Some of my fans were absolutely protective about me and cdnt digest anything that was said against me. Thank you for your love but my advice to you is that we need to be tolerant of others views esp when they are not in agreement. This is life and one needs to respect the other except when there is slander or malicious gossip. To my critiques, I respect them too. Every one sees life differently, with its limitations and perspectives and yet, thats what gives it so many layers and makes it colourful and dynamic. In that respect, I thank you all.
Lets hope season 2 of DID brings in some interesting, talented fresh dancers. To all who want to participate, if you are really good dancer in any style, its good but now work towards being versatile. You don't have to master every style but atleast have the basic requisite knowledge in the ones mentioned below as this will give you the edge. I'd say you make sure you get a crash course of 3 months from now in Ballet, Hip hop (Locking and Popping)contemporary, salsa, Acrobatics(wow factor), Indian folk and Kathak. Get into shape and hit the gym now as later you will have no time.If you aint fit you aint going very far in the competition. DID is on the look out for Indian best 'Dancing Star' not just a very good dancer. So groom yourself, get a good haircut, get some styling tips, hit the gymn and make sure you bring your own star factor along. Be unique and confident in what you do and that can also become your star power factor. Good Dancing is a must(no exception in that) . Also realize, that the one thing that I respect of all the the 18 contestant, is that they had to stay together 24 7 and adjust to everyone. It needed maturity and high frustration tolerance to stay on the show with your mind intact. The pressure of the competition is immense and you are constantly living a mental battle. You may be a great dancer but if u cant take criticism or don't have the discipline to work for 16 hours a day, you will end up messed up. Any competition esp with such a huge exposure is gonna play on your mind, so you need to be really tenacious. My genuine respect for the final 18.
Most probably, Auditions will be in September. Write to zee on danceindiadance.sify and find out more.
Hope this helps.
Good bye and Au revoir.
Love N respect
