Though I am not a greenhorn in terms of acting, this is my first big break. Interestingly, this comes exactly four years after I first appeared on television in a reality show called Zee Cinestar Ki Khoj. It was in 2004 when I participated in Cinestar Ki Khoj along with Sarwar Ahuja. He has also got a good break and is currently playing Pankaj in Jyoti. We still remember the reality show days fondly. It was a nice experience and did prepare us.
When I look back in hindsight, I feel it is good that I had to wait for four years to get a launch pad. I got a good one in terms of Pavitra Rishta. All Balaji shows are good launch pads and I feel proud to be the new face of Balaji. Prior to this I have done many catalog shoots for various magazines.
And hey do you know that I was all set to play a key role in Bali Umar Ko Salaam and even shot for the promos? But somehow it did not materialise. But I am happy to get Pavitra Rishta. It is a dream come true for me. I used to dream about becoming an actress right from the days when I was in Class four. During that time there was a Pepsi ad that used to come on air. Shahrukh, Kajol and Rani were in that commercial. I was so fond of it that I used to long to grow up and opt for a career in acting. My favourite line was 'Wait and Watch Mumbai I am coming!' So, here I am in front of you dear audience.
I was born and brought up in a Maharashtrian family in Indore and my parents were reluctant initially. But they were very supportive when they got to know that I was serious about making a career in acting. Without their support I would not have been able to take part in Cinestars.... It is always very important to have your parents beside you.
I am lucky that my on-screen mother Savita Prabhune also supports and helps me a lot. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that this show will create the same magic as other Balaji shows.
