Director Sudhir Mishra is adapting Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' in Indian context for his next political drama with Farhan Akhtar in lead.
Farhan will play a young man who is forced to join politics and later becomes an influential political leader like the way Hamlet did when his father was killed. The movie is named 'Dhruv' and stars Kareena Kapoor and Chitrangada Singh in lead.
It is believed that Dhruv is a modified version of Sudhir's previously announced film 'Aur Devdas', which gave a political twist to the story of 'Devdas' and had cast Shiney Ahuja , Lara Dutta and Chitrangada Singh. But the director shelved the movie after the release of Dev. D . Later, Sudhir convinced Farhan and not only did the latter agree to produce the film but was also keen to be the part of cast.

This time too, Sudhir is trying his hands on political drama but with a 'Hamlet' twist. The movie's plot is learnt to be drawn straight from the pages of 'Hamlet' and from Sudhir's grandfather's life. He is repeating his favourite Chitrangada once again. The director claims, as it was quoted, that the movie will look at today's political scenario with realistic eyes.
However, another realistic film maker Prakash Jha too is making a film based on politics named Rajniti which is said to be inspired by 'Mahabharat' and the Hollywood film 'The Godfather'. The film has a huge star cast that includes names like Katrina Kaif , Ranbir Kapoor , Ajay Devgan and Arjun Rampal .
Well, Shakespeare's plays have been cinematically well adapted by our Bollywood directors. Vishal Bharadwaj successfully adapted both 'Macbeth' and 'Othello' for his films Maqbool and Omkara respectively.
