Amitabh Bachchan's debut Kannada film Amritadhare has been a roaring success in Bangalore. The film, directed by Nagithahalli Chandrashekhar, has completed a silver jubilee run in the city. Chandrashekhar speaks about the film saying, "The film has been shot from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, with the climax scene being filmed in front of the Taj Mahal. Amitabh Bachchan plays himself in the movie. The film is a love story of a young couple. The wife is dying and the man tries to fulfil her last wishes." The director defends his choice of roping in Big B for the film saying, "Signing Amitabh was not a marketing gimmick. He has conveyed a social message in the film — that three days of a meaningful life is far better than 100 days of mere existence." The three-time National Award winner, N. Chandrashekhar has written many books in Kannada and has written more than 100 short stories. His earlier film America America also won the National Award and ran for a record 365 days in Bangalore. |
