After three days of secret celebrations at Panchgani in Maharashtra following his marriage to Kiran Rao, actor Aamir Khan Sunday headed for Bangalore where his new in-laws will host a reception for the newly-weds.
Aamir married for the second time Dec 28 at a simple ceremony at his home in Mumbai that was attended by family members, close friends and actress Rani Mukerji, who was the only known face from the film fraternity at the ceremony.
The media was kept away from the entire affair. In fact, on the wedding day, Aamir left his residence quite a few times during the day but refused to interact with reporters gathered outside his house.
Soon after the marriage, the couple went to Panchgani, a hill station about 250 km south of Mumbai, for a gala reception held in an old Parsi bungalow called Mehar Bai House.
Aamir's family members, including his son Junaid and cousin Mansoor Khan, actors Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and director Ashutosh Gowarikar attended the ceremony.
Police at Panchgani blocked all roads leading to the bungalow and not a single media person was allowed to even get close to the venue. On Dec 29, journalists camping outside Il Palazzo hotel in Panchgani to cover the wedding reception were manhandled by Aamir's private security personnel.
In spite of the security measures, a reporter managed to click pictures of the newly-weds playing cricket that were published in Sunday's edition of an afternoon newspaper of Mumbai.
Aamir divorced his first wife Reena Dutta in 2002 and has two children with her.
Aamir and Kiran met on the sets of the actor's first home production "Lagaan". Kiran worked as the assistant director in the film.
The actor, who zealously guards his personal life, remained tight-lipped about the relationship, but he was often seen and photographed with Kiran at public functions.
