| She might have a mega hit under her belt, but Prachi Desai says she still feels like an outsider in Bollywood |

| m_ranjib@dnaindia.net Beyond the shimmer and glitter of the silver screen, not everyone is welcomed with open arms. Prachi Desai, who has made her transition from the small to the big screen, feels that she is yet to be accepted as a part of the family. Needless to say, when actors are busy gossiping on the sets, she is never a part of it. "It is tough for anybody to accept an outsider. I think it's very obvious that when two friends are talking, they don't want anybody new to be part of it. And I think every outsider goes through it. It's not the case with people who have been a part of the industry, like star kids; they all know each other and are in circulation. It takes time for anybody to get in," she says. Does she have any friends in the film industry? "I don't hang out with film people per se. So maybe if I do a few more films, I would make new friends." Since history has been a witness, none of the TV actors have made it big on the big screen except SRK. Most of them get stuck in transition; and even if a few have managed to break even, they are still identified as 'TV actors'. "I think I need to be clear with what I want to do with my career. After Rock On, my next film Life Partner is coming out after a long time. The point is people still call me a TV actor. They are yet to identify me as a film actress. That's the reason I don't want to do any more TV shows as of now," she says. Next up, the shooting for her new film Once Upon A Time in Mumbai is starting. "I consider it a dark film where I am playing Emraan Hashmi's girlfriend — thankfully not his wife." Is she going to be the next smooch partner of Bollywood's 'Kissinger'? "Everybody asks me the same question! People are pretty much aware of my limitations or to be precise inhibitions. I would not be comfortable doing that." |
