Mayank didn't know why those tears in her eyes made his heart ache with pain. Those eyes were like glass. He didn't ever want to see any pain in them ever, and the feeling that HE was the one to cause her pain just made him feel worse.
She was only trying to help him and just like during the time of their project, he had once again dismissed her and angered her. This time though he knewâit was different. Last time this little four letter word L-O-V-E wasn't involved. It made everything all the more harder. The way her face fell when he started shouting at her; made him realize what a horrible human being he really was. She was Nupur, he was used to her constant chatter, and even when she was yapping along, Mayank loved staring at her, she'd say the cutest things, and her eyes would light up in a way that sent his heart racing faster.
He knew what he had to do now. He had to apologize to her and make things right. He slowly stood up from his bed and walked to the phone, when his mom walked in.
"Mayankâkya kar rahe ho? Sona nahi hain?" She quickly gathered up all his books that were lying all over the place. "Tum bhi na, apni kitab sab jaaga phelha kar rakhte ho," She shook her head while she stacked up his books on the desk and then pulled him down to sit next to her on the bed. "Mayuâkya soch rahe ho?"
Getting no response from him, she slowly snapped her fingers in front of his face.
"Huh? Maâtum kab aayi?" He shook his head and rubbed at his eyes.
"Thodi der pehle. Mayuâkuch bat hain kya? Main kabse dekh rahi hoon, tu kis baat ko leke bahot pareshaan hain," She commented slowly ruffling his hair to which he didn't say anything to.
"Maâjab aap ko ghalti karte ho, aur doosre insaan ko takleef hoti hainâto kya dard aapke dil ko hota hain," He slowly asked, refusing to look in her direction; afraid that she'd guess the situation.
"Beta, agar tumhe pata ho ke tumhari ghalti hainâto haan, dard hoga. Aur agar woh doosra insaan tumhare dil ke kareeb hain, to aur bhi dard hoga," She affectionately touches his face and gets up. "Aur mujhe pata hain ke tu hamesha sahi karta hain,"
He watched his mom leave the room and knew what he had to do. Apologize to the girl who he made cry, the girl who made him smile when he felt alone, the girl who cared for him enough to spend time in a library, the last place a drama queen like her fit in.
Let me know how it was! đ
