Deepika, Sonam in danger zone?

Just a few seasons ago Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor were touted as the 'next big things' of tinsel town. But after their high profile debuts, the two girls have been high on hype but low on performance. And this holds true for many 'once popular' girls who are suddenly not-so-happening at box office. Exactly a year after the OSO-Saawariya clash, the Ghajini-Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi showdown gave Bollywood two new fresh faces - who seem to be making all the right noises with the big banners. And the buzz factor has now shifted to the likes of Asin ,Anushka, Genelia and Prachi. Now that even a huge star like Rani Mukerji has pulled up her socks (check out her new look) it's time these girls also wake up and smell the coffee – before it's too late

Deepika Padukone:

After her dream launch in Om Shanti Om, Deepika became a nationwide sensation. With the biggest of endorsement deals and top banners knocking at her doorstep, the leggy lass was on a winning path. But after an average Bachna Ae Haseeno and the turkey called Chandni Chowk To China, it's boyfriendRanbir Kapoor and their lovey-dovey romance which have become her claim to fame.

Advice: Stop being your boyfriend's PR agent and focus on bigger and better films.

Sonam Kapoor:

As much as we may love that infectious smile, Sonam's deglam look doesn't seem to be working on screen. With two high-profile disasters already in her kitty, Sonam needs to give these 'roles with substance' a pass. Sonam has the height, look and screen presence to hold her own in a frame. Being a Jane Austen fan is good and we hope her desi adaptation of Emma works – but an average Bollywood fan wants to see her in hot pants and a bikini top in the beaches of Miami.

Advice: Babes! Please don't reserve your glamorous side only for magazine photo-shoots.

Vidya Balan:

From Parineeta to Kismat Konnection, her box-office record is quite consistent. But the fashion police have overlooked all the critical acclaim she has received. Vidya's desperate attempts to go glam have been undone by her unflattering sense of style. Her mature face and body language don't make her an ideal candidate for candyfloss films. And that's where she has been losing out. But after Ash, Vidya looks like the only able successor for Bhansali-Gowariker style costume dramas. So here's wishing that Vidya stops chasing NRI romances and concentrates on other genres.

Advice: You still have a loyal fan following, but instead of the Johns and Shahids, please go for films with Aamir and Hrithik.

Kangana Ranaut:

Kangana showed a lot of spark in her first few films. But now her repetitive choice of troubled characters are proving detrimental. Despite her talent and unconventional appeal, Kangana has got slotted as boring and predictable. In one of the biggest films of the year, Kangana is playing second fiddle to an unknown Mexican model (Barbara Mori-Kites). Those trophies for Best Supporting Actress are a signal she should not miss.

Advice: Chill for some time and sign up a few glamorous entertainers. Jus having cozy dinners with Adhyayan wont help.

Lara Dutta:

She was never really a contender for the top slot. But her extended cameos in Billu, No Entry andJhoom Barabar Jhoom give you a peek into her untapped potential. Gorgeous in both Indian and Western wear, Lara has tremendous screen presence but is stuck in multistarrers. More in news for her private life, Lara needs to buck up. Else she will soon be relegated to the forgotten item girls club.

Advice: Find yourself a good, fun-filled multiplex film. That diction and voice deserve better lines.

7 of 7

Bipasha Basu:

Agreed Bips is still a stunner, especially each time shows off those abs. But that 'body to die for' and those figure hugging outfits are becoming a bit of a bore. Post Dhoom 2, where she reached the zenith of her sex appeal, Bipasha has been overdoing the oomph routine. Suddenly all her songs look the same with little novelty in her appearances and roles. High time she stopped playing the desirable, older woman opposite the newbies of Bollywood.

Advice: Do another Corporate and get yourself a new stylist.

^^well said...alll of them are doing ok especially deepika, vidya, kangana, bipasha. Some good advice but they have got to where they are doing what they are doing now..just because some of them are not doing 100s of movies does make them a flop a flop film is probably likely to cause more harm than going slow.

hit film doesnt help u either....there r some actress like Amisha patel had two hit films in a row when she started acting n where is she now???.....Rimi sen had 3 hit films in a row n she is also missing these days, in bollywood u r famous n popular as long as u r in the news, like Kareena say ' the gal who claim that she have two hit films in a row do not hv the popularity as i have' juz because she was more in news n hv more controversies in the begining of her career ,.........thus if they claim if in the future Deepika will be juz famous juz for her bf or whatever other things, so be it!

Out of the newbies only Asin and Genelia are giving competition to Deepika. Others are yet to get a good line up of movies.

But I agree with these quotes.

I am glad that Deepika finally is doing that. During BAH she was just trying to be Ranbir's PR and ensuring him that first hit of his life.
I like this Deepika who is going solo and taking care of her work. Otherwise in no time you will be replaced.

Whatever Sonam says, we see her a LOT in magazine shoots I mean a lot than movies. Would love to see more movies now. Hope it doesn't turn out to be Twinkle Khanna's career who had more magazine shoots than films.

I love Sonam but I'm inclined to agree with whats written...

I wonder why Deepika's considered in the zone though...she has a few projects lined up and without seeing them how can we judge?

But Kangana is what I'm most surprised at...😲...why put her in the list???

Bips and Lara have just had unfortunate choice of films😒...but I reckon they'll be around for some time still...

All Vidya needs is a good stylist and she is set!!!

On Sonam: ...but an average Bollywood fan wants to see her in hot pants and a bikini top in the beaches of Miami.

Ummm no thank you! There are plenty of other actresses for avg Bollywood fans :) Yes I def want to see her doing some typical Bollywood movies and dancing...but no hot pants or bikini unless her character demands it and the producers do not use that to sell their movies. She' d rather sit at home and write books!

i agree for deepika but sonam is surely going high..despite her flops she atleast makes herself notice through her performance...not deepika whose average performance went unnoticed in bachna ..n again gave a very ordinary performance in cc2c...i think sonam also has the advantage of being good looking..deepika has to face big competition from that angle as well...i think the picture tells the story..shez too ordinary n lacks that spark...

The only person on the list who should be worried is Lara Dutta. She never had a role or a movie that was solely hers.

Deepika in danger zone? Is this a joke? One flop is not going to erase her.
