I beg to differ on the "character runing" part though. The characters are pretty much the same they were in BLF (except Purab and Bebe, who were non-existent, and Jassi's mom, who was more like what bebe is in JJKN) and I think they have been very well thought out.

I think the problem is more with the implementation of a borrowed storyline in an Indian setting. T&D twisted it to cater to the desi audience (taking inspiration from some other high-voltage Indian drama serials), but ended up highlighting some characters too much and other too little, introducing bloopers that were many times very obvious, and adding too much spice to keep the TRPs high!!

ummm....yep you got a point there but here are a few things that differ in latin world vs india

1) indian culture puts a lot of weightage on commitment while latin world is more open to the idea of love(hence mallika and armaan's relationship also desired by suri elders gets precedence over jassi/armaan union . hence mallika has to be made evil in order to justify the ending. in all other shows also masses supported a wedded/bethrothed couple over couple in love)

2)in india almost all banks are public/govt undertakings hence the plan to avoid paying the loans by kohinoor takingover gulmohar is almost impossible not to mention equivalent to cheating govt. in latin america too it is hard but feasible given that all the banks there are private undertakings. hence on business front jjkn is a complete failure with mile long holes.

3)most countries in western society encourage independence amongst kids, give them a chance of making mistakes of personal front, also dating, late night meetings, sleeping around etc are not big deals. in india parents take complete responsibility of thier kids until thier marraiges, they keep an eye on them, also late night meetings, sleeping around are frowned upon. jilting of a bride almost renders her and her family a social pariah. walias never realised thier daughter's love for armaan ,put a stop to her late night returns(though they cribbed about it) and purab's jilting had no affect on walias comes as a surprise under such circumstances. those of you born and brought up in india can identify the point i am trying to put forth.

i could go on and on about why the directors were forced to mute /change certain aspects of the original .....however they failed to do a good job.

Yes pj04.. your points are very valid! I, infact, appreciate the part that T&D modified the script to fit in the Indian scene. My contention has been with the fact, as you also pointed out, that they didn't do a clean job of it.

They did remove many 'unacceptable' pieces, but overlooked some others that did not fit in the 'typical Indian' thinking - (eg. Mallika and Armaan sharing bed in Goa, exchanging hugs and kisses at work, Pari's relationship with Raj and Aryan for money etc.)

On the other hand, they showed Jassi's family as very conservative ( their dressing sense, social circle, her dad's taboos on her), but again didn't portray things like her doing nightout at work, her going to restaurants and clubs etc convincingly enough.
