lack of chemistry between gehna and basanth....rightly said...but what serial makers are showing is that even ill-matched relationships can blossom into stronger relationships (though not exactly mills and boons type romance), if mutual trust and respect is there......what they are showing is that Gehna with her guts has managed to create a respect in her husband's eyes...without loosing her self-respect....though it still remains a compromise....she has managed to come out of it with her head held high.
And on option of leaving after having child.....give me a break....how many women on this forum....assuming all of us are from a modern background...would leave their kid behind and go....if they are in a situation which though not perfect ( a good match, etremely caring and loving husband andin-laws), but fairly ok (husband though not compatible. but is willing to change and is caring to some extent).
And if gehna's background was so strong and modern, am sure she would not have allowed herself get into this position as a first step.

In one of the earlier episodes, wasn't it indicated that Basant forcibly had physical relations with his wife Gehna, after she had refused to co-habit with him? The scene where Gehna looks at the marks on Sugna's body after she comes back from meeting with Pratap and then compares them to the marks on her own body. (The scene also showed the contrast between both the girls...Sugna was shown to be happy and Gehna to be depressed and sad...clearly indicating their individual experiences with Pratap and Basant respectively)
This meant that Basant had forced himself on Gehna which amounts to Marital rape.
How can a self-respecting, forthright and courageous girl like Gehna ever respect and love a man who had literally raped her? So what if he is her husband, he did force himself upon her, isn't it?
Its not a question of age or even circumstances...its about dignity and self-respect! Gehna was always shown to be a girl who could stand up for herself and hence to see her accepting Basant from her heart is a bit jarring. I could understand if she had resigned herself to what had happened and lived on...but to show her falling in love with a man who had willfully subjugated her to abuse is very disturbing, to say the least!

Totally agree with that one Soapie !!!

You echo my thoughts..

basanth has changed since the early days of their relationship. gehna has changed. if they want to move on and find some happiness with each other, what is there to object?

who are we to tell a lady to not love her husband even when he cares for her, and she respects him because he forced himself on her once a long time ago?

they have every right to move on in their relationship. ageism is also prejudice.
