Okay so Radio Mirchi Music Awards are this weekend

Take a look at this teaser video, who is the besura in the beginning anyone? Does Shreya have no other song to sing other than the mediocre Barso Re

Anu Malik is well the less said the better

The saving grace so far has been the fact that Bipasha & Shahid are going to perform and HOLY Shahid's steps are HAWT!! can't wait to watch...

For Genelia fans, she is performing too (wish the girl was as good of a dancer as she is an actress though)

So who is going to watch this??

BTW, here is the teaser video... http://www.india-forums.com/video/video.asp?vc=5D5D5ED5-FFEE-4B4E-819D-6113C02D351B

Radio Mirchi and Red FM had a busy weekend organising the Tata Indicom Mirchi Music Awards and the Bajaate Raho Awards 2008, respectively. Both these Awards served different purposes.

Radio Mirchi chose to honour the unsung heroes in the Indian film industry in the first edition of its Tata Indicom Mirchi Music Awards.

The jury members for the Tata Indicom Mirchi Music Awards included Prasoon Joshi, Anu Malik, Kailash Kher, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kunal Kohli, Lalit Pandit, Louiz Banks, Ramesh Sippy, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Shankar Mahadevan, Sadhana Sargam, Suresh Wadkar and Sonu Niigaam. The jury was led by chairman Javed Akhtar.

Film 'Jodhaa Akbar' bagged the highest number of awards, with the song 'Jashn-e-Bahara' taking home the 'Song of the Year', 'Lyricist of the Year' (Javed Akhtar), 'Male Vocalist of the Year' (Javed Ali). The other awards for 'Jodhaa Akbar' included 'Female Vocalist of the Year' (Bela Shende for 'Manmohana'), 'Technical Award for Song Mixing' (Late H Shridhar), and 'Technical Award for Film Background Score' (AR Rahman).

'Album of the Year' went to 'Jaane Tu ya Jaane Na'.

On Friday, March 27, 2009, Red FM held the fourth edition of Bajaate Raho Awards, which is in keeping with its theme 'Bajaate Raho'. The aim was to celebrate 'mediocrity' and felicitate the worst of the lot across all fields – Bollywood, Music, Cricket, Television and City Special Awards.

The winners were decided after public voting in three metros – Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

The winner in the Bollywood category included 'Drona' for the 'Super pit Film Award' and Harman Baweja for the 'Baap ka naam doobo diya Award'. In the cricket category, the 'On-field Dramebaaz Award' went to Harbhajan Singh for hitting Sreesanth, while the 'Cricket Gaya Tel Lene Award' was presented to Vijay Mallya for giving more importance to cheerleaders than cricketers. The television winners included MTV Roadies' Raghu Ram and Payal Rohatgi for judging Sambhavna Seth's character in 'Bigg Boss'.

The 'City Special Awards' were given to Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Delhi's Blue Line buses and 'Kolkata ki shaan Award' went to the Eastern metro's bus drivers.

In a prepared statement, Red FM, COO, Abraham Thomas, said, "The Awards and the nominations are supposed to be taken lightly, and clearly the audiences today have a sense of humour to take it in the right spirit."

For Alka Yagnik playback singing has become very selective and is rarely heard of these days. When we asked her why she has become so choosy, she replied, ''I am saddened by the present day music scenario. Music is no longer melodious and music albums do not have a long shelf life.''

Recalling the super hit songs of Saajan and Dhadkan (by melody kings, Nadeem-Shravan), Alka said that present day composers do not compose songs like they used to be. In fact, the mentioned movies are evergreen and even after so many years, when she performs on stage she is always requested to sing songs from Saajan and Dhadkan repeatedly. And we are a witness to that, just a couple of days back!

Another reason for her doing less songs is the fact that her voice is sweet and her vocals soft while heroines like Bipasha Basu, Koena Mitra require more husky vocals. Alka says, ''I want to sing songs that are decent. Vulgarity puts me off. I do not want to sing songs that will make me feel ashamed.'' Alka also expressed her opinion on reality shows and choosing of winners via sms. Says Alka, ''Reality shows give a platform to new and hidden talents. They give exposure to these budding talents. But regionalism and emotions should not be the motivating factor for the people while choosing winners. They should choose winners only on the basis of merit and talent.''

Right on dot Alka, come back with a vengeance as we miss you

I agree totally, I never tire of listening to Saajan or Dhadkan .... how can one ever get sick of tum dil ki dhadkan mein rehte ho or bohot pyar karte hai tumko sanam??
I can't remember a recent song w/ the exception of a couple that might stick in my head like that for too long.
She is absolutely right that her voice does not suit most of the actresses of today but I hope to see her back in action full swing because she definitely has a koel si boli!!
