Sukriti Khandpal quits Dil Mil Gaye
Sukirti Khandpal who played Dr. Ridhima has quit Dil Mil Gaye (Star One, Monday - Thursday, 8:30pm ). She has been replaced by Jennifer Winget who is currently seen as the lead actress in Sangam (Star Plus). But Khandpal says she isn't upset. In fact she says it was her decision to move on as she felt the character wasn't growing and didn't have much scope for her.
Why did you decide to quit the show all of sudden?
I decided to quit it because the story wasn't going anywhere. I couldn't see a better future and I wanted to go on a break for long' but I waited for some time. But when I realized that there's no growth in the character, I decided to quit.
So are you going on a break?
Yes' I'll be going for a holiday on April 15th and then from there will move to my hometown in Nainital. It's been two years since I've been shooting without a break, so now when I have the opportunity, I am very happy.
Are you working on some other project?
No! I am still hunting for some good things to come my way but nothing has been finalized yet. I am considering many things as of now.
Rumors are that you left the show because you got a film...
No, this is not true' I don't know who is spreading these rumors. I am looking for something really exciting and good but I haven't signed anything.
What were the reasons for you to sign DMG initially?
DMG was - in fact it is - one of the best shows on television right. It has a very good audience...a very large one. The show is especially very popular amongst the youth and to be very frank, Cinevistas gave me a character which allowed me to break my image. Ridhima has given me lot of name and fame and I'll be always thankful to Cinevistas for having given me this role.
How far do you think Jennifer will be able to justify the role?
Although I wouldn't want to comment on that but still I would say that Jennifer is a great actress and as far as I know her, she will give her 100% to the role and will be well accepted by the audience too.
How much will you miss the show?
As I said earlier, Dr. Ridhima has given me a lot, people know me by this name. DMG has been a very special experience of my life... I will miss wearing salwar suits which I don't wear in real life and yes, one most important thing is, that I'll miss my wig. I have curly hair in real and the wig I used had straight hair and after the shooting I used to have tough time getting them back to shape' (Laughs)
I have made some very good friends like Sonia with whom I used to share the room, Mohnish Behl, Sunaina, Shweta... in fact everyone. We all shared a very good rapport.
What type of work are you looking forward to?
It all depends on the scripts... I might consider dailies which offer me something good. I don't mind realities too. In fact realities have always been in my mind right from the start.. you know something like Big Boss but I would prefer if I get dance realities as I love dance. If something like Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa comes my way where I get to learn many dance forms, I'll be very happy.
So with Dr. Armaan dancing this season, we shall see Dr. Ridhima next season?
Ya why not?! But that depends on which Ridhima as now there are three of them' (Laughs)
