now i know my topic title would've made u all go like - WHATTT!!!😆
beware: this is going to be a LONG post - i still request for u to take out some time and go thru it..and if u dont like wht u read or feel u've wasted ur time..feel free to point it out to me and say - u time waster! 😆😆😆
back to topic: it's just...i was doing this assignment for my psyc course few days back on why do v have stereotypes? why do v do prejudice? - now one of the major lessons i have learned throughout my psyc courses is that every1 has stereotypes and every1 is prejudiced in one way or another...😊nothing wrong with that - main point is that we are all AWARE of our prejudices😊
my theory: basically when two groups compete for a scarce resource (time of an episode in the case of sajan and mayur)...they tend to get very competitive and they tend to portray the ingroup and outgroup effect: one group is your ingroup (u belong in it!)...and the other group is the OUTGROUP - u dont belong to it...
me being in sciences - my ingroups are my other science student ("oeye tu bhi sceince - aa jaadu ki jhapphi de ja!😉")...and my outgroup wud be all enginerring or accounting students...
but if i zoom in this situation a bit more and the whoel thign changes : me being in PSYCHOLOGY - my ingroups are now ONLY the other psyc students..while bio students are my outgroups ("u bio - OH STEP AWAY!!"😆)
in case of sajan and mayur, we have all noticed how, except for a few neutral fans, most of the fans are biased towards one or the other jodi...and from the number of warnings that we hav at times received in the past, it's clear many conflicts tend to arise b/w these two groups (mayur -sajan) at times..
the feeling that ( and im sure we ALLL at times have this same feeling) that only the other fans of YOUR fav jodi can understand u, relate to u -whereas fans of other jodis CAN'T...that's just an illusory feeling we have- becuz our current context of thinking is MJHT, which is made up of diff. pairs - sajan, mayur, arti, monaya, arnaya, rahi, etc.
if v change our context a bit...if we start talking abt say canada -US...all the fans from canada would form one group....and all from US would probably form the other group....then u wudnt care whether the other members of ur group are SGians or MNians- all u wud care abt wud be that u all belong to same nation..and thus u can only relate to them when it comes to talking abt ur nations..
this is just ONE of the MANY examples in which u'r ingroups and outgroups can rearrange/change...it's all abt wht context u talk abt.....i will admit even i used to (and still do sumtimes) feel that my group is MNians -i can relate to them, they understand me, i belong there...but the fact is - we all can relate to each other (no matter wwhether we ar mayur or sajan or any other -ur/an😆) in one way or another...and then when we find similarities b/w us and ppl we thought were so diff than us - it surprises us how much v were wrong...
so guys...if u do feel sumthing like an ingroup (belonging) and outgroup (alieniated) effect next time - if u find a user whose views are so diff from urs, not part of "your" group - then just try to think of all the OTHER things u cud hav in common with the same user - which wud make u think of that SAME user as actually part of UR OWN GROUP (maybe some other group of urs - but still UR group)....
lastly...this post wasnt a speech on "oh dont prejudice or use stereotypes" - like i said v all hold prejudices and that is FINE!
this post was just to make us all think abt each other in a diff perspective....to try to erase those differences that we feel there are between us...- the point is : if u start noticing difference - u will find MANY of them - even WITHIN ur own groups that u FEEL are SO LIKE U - yet when u start searching for similarities - u wud find so many even OUTSIDE ur own group that u wud be surprised at how relatable a person is whom u never thought cud be relatable to u !
so remember: behind all these user accounts are users JUST LIKE US! who think just like us! just have diff. perspectives at times😊 change the context a bit - and urs and their perspective wud match instantly!😉
@modz: umm...if this is out of topic...or if this post offends any1..or if it looks like spamming....u cud close it - i wont mind!😊
@others: i really wud appreciate a bit of feedback on ur thoughts on this topic....thnkx guys!😊 lets try to make this forum even more wonderful than it already is!😃
