Helen wears her dancing shoes once again

Helen, the dancing queen of Indian cinema, will play a lead role in Anjane — The Unknown

The 'item number' icon is back. Helen, the dancing queen of Indian cinema will shake a still-shapely leg to Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu, a song she had danced to, from the 1958 film, Howrah Bridge.

The song has once again been included in the movie, Anjane — The Unknown, releasing on December 30 and features Manisha Koirala, Sanjay Kapoor and Tejaswini Kolhapure.

Says Harry Fernandes, the director, "It's great to see Helenji dancing in my movie and that too in the same song she performed years ago. I have grown up watching Helenji on the silver screen and today I consider myself lucky to have her playing the lead in my movie.

It was so difficult to persuade her to dance into that song. She was not quite ready to do it, but when she danced on the sets, everyone was surprised to see the same grace and beauty. I am sure people will be delighted to see her dance once again."

The film is a thriller and Helen plays one of the leads, a grandmother who looks after the kids in the house. And it is while caring for the kids that she dances to Chin Chin Chu. Rekha Prasad who has earlier choreographed for songs like Jumma Chumma from the movie, Hum, has choreographed the song.

Helen was unavailable for comment.

Helen has appeared in approximately 700 films in a career that spans 40 years. Unbelievable, she has danced in nearly every single one of those films, sometimes more than once.
