A birdie tells us that though Mattel Toys are in talks with Aishwarya Rai as the new choice for Barbie Dolls, nothing is finalised.

Sources state, "The company is interested in a younger actress. They plan to rope in Genelia D'souza.

They feel she is cute and the youth can relate to her as she is doll-like.

Ash has crossed a certain age and is all over the place. They are looking for an actress of today's generation."

So, who is it? Ash, then Katrina, now Genelia. Sigh, it's Mid-day.

let the media make up their mind on the real BARBIE

^Hmm, I thought since it is an Indian barbie then it would be wearing more traditional clothing so it would stand out more than just your typical Barbie or Skipper doll. Honestly, I always wanted the Indian Barbie doll (with a red sari) as a kid, but it was like $50. My guess is because it was a special edition and the costume was special. That was in the mid-90s so I would assume it would be more expensive now. Of course if this is meant for primarily the South Asian market, I would get that they would want to market a more modern Bollywoodized look. Honestly, neither of the 3 would be ideal choices. But as qwww, rightly pointed out in the other topic about this, it seems that it is not marketable for them to make a truly Indian looking Barbie.

I think Ash would be a better choice. She truly represents Indians. Katrina's not even a 100% indian. Genelia, I believe has a long time go before she gets this kind of recognition.
