Wife Sunita brought in Anil Kapoor's birthday (December 24) at the stroke of midnight at their home with close friends and family.

Present at the party were Sanjay and wife Maheep, Boney and wife Sridevi, Javed Akhtar and Leela's Captain Dinesh Nair amongst others.
In 2006 Anil will emerge in his new avatar of a producer. Mahatma V/s Gandhi, which will unveil next year.

Surprise party
It was a small get-together thrown by Sunita and Maheep but I knew about it. Surprise parties are for kids. I am enjoying a good phase of life now. It's great fun to have my children — Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan's friends at our parties, along with our friends.
How I spent his birthday
In the morning I did a havan and puja with my family. I didn't cut any cake at home. I don't believe in taking a holiday on my birthday. So I shot for Nikhil Advani's Salaam-E-Ishq and loved every moment of it. I love working. For me it's a great holiday when I come to work and find that shooting's cancelled because of my co-star. Then I can chill out.
No gifts for Anil
I didn't get any. I am the Santa Claus in my family (laughs) as I keep giving gifts to everybody but never get any in return. Just kidding! I don't believe in the concept of gifts on birthdays. One doesn't need an occasion for gifts. And my family believes that too. So we exchange gifts whenever we feel like it. We don't wait for birthdays.
And now New Year's…
I haven't decided what we will do this 31st December. We haven't made any plans as such…Today (Saturday, December 24) is my close friend Dinesh's (Nair) birthday and we shall be celebrating that with a party at night. That's why we celebrated my birthday on Friday night, so we could attend his bash.
