and as far as western shows are concerned, we are not ready for nudity in Indian movies, are we?

If they are going to dance any Latin or contemporary style dancing than they need to wear constumes which are not safety hazard and are comfortable doing lifts ETC...Most ballroom dance has elegant long dresses...
I agree we are not watching it on western-American channels...These are indian shows than why the hell are they not dancing traditional or any type of Indian dancing besides bollywood dancing?
One can't dance Bharat Natyam or Kathak with skimpy clothes the same way some of the Latin dancing requires less clothing so no mishaps while lifts etc...
Hope u all understand my point here....
Give u perfect example one can't go for swimming wearing salwar kameez ya sareee.....One must wear bathing suit which is comfortable for them....be it one piece suit or two piece bikini...or there are suits with shorts which covers part of the thighs...
There are proper clothing for different things...

I feel, they shd have given them better attire and not these skimpy ones. That will make the gals look graceful, even while doing those vulgar lifts.

I agree with you, one can't do western dances in sarees or salwaar suits. There is a dress specifically for that kind of dance. If we attempt to do a salsa, the clothes used in it are usually skimpy but thats what adds to the dance moves. I donot see any problem in the dress nor in the dance movements performed by the girls that day. I guess its an individual's perspective.

the song they performed on is 'Woh Sikandar hai.....'-an Indian song. And the dance form is Bollywood which is an Indian dance form. So, in that performance it is a bit uncomfortable seeing them in those skimpy clothes doing those lifts. While doing western dances, we never had any problems with their dresses.
