| Hrishitaa Bhatt is back in the reckoning with the release of two films — Jawani Diwani and Jigyasa.
But what's more interesting about the as-yet-single girl is that she was involved in a serious relationship with teenage heartthrob Shahid Kapur during their college days. The ex-lovers now live five minutes away from each other — she in Bianca Apartments, and he in Raj Classic, Versova. College romance
Hrishitaa and Shahid started going around — and broke up — even before either of them entered films. But neither spoke about the relationship; Hrishitaa is still not comfortable talking about it.
"We were in college when we started dating each other," she says, hesitantly. "Shahid and I studied together in Mithibai College (Juhu), when we met and fell in love." Both were arts students. Then Shahid got a break in Ishq Vishq Pyar Vyar, and romance soon took a backseat. What happened?
Why did they break up? Hrishitaa says she doesn't know, "A relationship is a growth process. I am a very stable person, and don't indulge in hanky-panky. It was a mutual and cordial break-up; there was no point in furthering the relationship, so we decided to part ways.
But I am a very positive person and believe that if we make a mistake, we accept it and move on, even if we are emotionally attached. If you want to know the actual cause… I don't know what happened."
Single girl
Shahid has moved in with Kareena Kapoor. What about Hrishitaa? "I am very much single and pursuing my acting career with a vengeance. The day I am sure this is the man I love, I won't hide my relationship, but announce it to the world. I took a break for a while, to complete my studies, which were neglected because of my acting. I have always been excellent in studies. Today, I am a graduate in Philosophy. Now I have some good films releasing — Jawani Diwani, Jigyasa and Benares." The actress's definition of a dream man? "Someone who is a good human being, very intelligent, possesses a great sense of humor, magnetically attractive, with intense eyes and a nice smile. The eyes are the windows to one's soul." Whew!
Since the break-up was cordial, how will she react if Shahid and she meet socially? "I don't know… I haven't really thought about how I will react when I meet him," says Hrishitaa.
Is she over Shahid completely? "Obviously. It's been quite some time," comes the terse reply. After a while, she snaps, "Why don't you ask Shahid why we broke up?" So, we move to safer topics. Films ahead
In Jawani Diwani, Hrishitaa plays the daughter of the owner of a music company; in Jigyasa, she is Emraan Hashmi's girlfriend, a small-town girl who wants to enter films. "It's a serious film, which shows what it takes to be a star," she says. |
