there are many talented actresses in hollywood still hoping to make it big,but this gal already feels she is the queen bee of hollywood makes me laugh, that is the reason we have so many one movie wonders working on tv or in some burger bar

i am sure she will end up being a waitress in big apple, gosh the girls needs a reality check,if she had some offers in hollywood then i would understand but without iffer such a big move is rather foioolish. remember bend it like beckham gal she was the lead of the movie, but what she got was a lead on tv,but keira the sidey in the movie made it big. so if talented actress like parminder nagra got a soap after doing a full fledged role & that to being fluent in english & from uk,so what makes this damsel in distress think she is the most wanted, haunted starlet of hollywood. this kid makes me laugh, let her dream,no harm in dreaming, but the sooner she wakes up the better

Moving from a movie to a TV role is bad and degrading according to Indian mentality!!! Not to other people. Many extablished hollywood actors and actresses act in TV series. No one looks down upon them. ITs only in India people think TV is downclass!
And Ms. Nagra is doing quite well for herself, thank you very much.
As far as Frieda goes.....she has landed a WOODY ALLEN movie, not some teenybopper Zac-Effron movie!!! Thats a big freaking deal!! Also, she has landed an Estee Lauder deal as well.
Those two are big deals in and of themselves and not to forget the Freida fever the west is going through right now. The detractors can say whatever they want, this girl is IN now and I am sooooo very proud of her because hers is a story of an underdog thriving just like Jamal's in SDM. Its destiny baby and from now on her moves will determine where she goes next! She has a good head on her shoulders and I'm pretty sure as are other Freidaholics that she won't disappoint us!

I agree with you.
She took a role that hardly any other actress would because Slumdog millionaire was made on a LOW BUDGET, had a NON -GLAMOROUS role and the main lead (Dev) was NOT TOO KNOWN at that time.
Whether she did a 15 minute role or was seen through out the whole movie, she DESERVES the sucess because she took the risk to act in a movie that was said to go straight to DVD and not receive much attention. However the movie was lucky to be a sucess and she (and all the other actors in that movie) have the right to celebrate and be happy about it.

Wait, does she think she'll make it in hollywood? Pfft.

She got a Woody Allen movie..noooooooo.. He's my favourite director.. his movies are witty, twisted, sadistic and just greatly made. She just had one movie which is over rated and over hyped.. Slumdog robbed Milk for best picture at the oscars.. Academy was only playing it safe because Milk would've brought up unnecessarily protest from up-tight right-wing homophobs. As well, SD did not deserve all those Best music related awards either at the oscars.. clearly should've been Wall-e.

I too, have no love for Ash but I will never detract from her acomplishments. If Freida wants to move to New York why the heck shouldn't she? And if she lacks talent as much as some are claiming she does, why did she bag a WOODY ALLEN movie? Now there's a director who doesn't cast people accordingly popularity and I think he's got a more astute eye when it comes to talent thatnmost of us sitting at our desktops at home. He must have seen something in her "15mins of screentime". 🤔

I think there's a world of a difference between criticizing her acting abilities, stating that she's over-rated/overexposed and "pulling [her] down" for some nefarious purpose. Personally, I firmly believe that's she's yet to achieve something (a 15-minute role where she barely acts doesn't count as an accomplisment in my book, neither does being well-dressed at several occassions, although I do find her style quite refreshing most of the time) so the question of pulling her down doesn't even arise.
I'm sure Woody Allen is a much better judge of acting talent than I could ever be (not that I ever want to step into the shoes of a director). However, are others not allowed to have opinions? Obviously, he sees something in her that I can't discern just yet but that doesn't necessarily mean that my opinion need to be based on his, does it?

I'm not a Freida hater, I'm not. I'm delighted that shes one of the very few Indians in Hollywood. But c'mon honestly Slumdog did her NO GOOD (ACTING WISE) In MY OPINION. The success of the film in general just helped her loads. But I guess we'll just have to see what she does in that Woody Allen film to really judge her acting abilities. Honestly I don't know about others but I think nearly ANYONE could've done Freida's part in the film.

If anyone left an impact I believe the younger kids playing Jamal and Latika left a bigger impact.

Moving on, New York is a good place for high profile people to live, she definitely wouldn't get hounded by photographs nearly as much as she would have been if she'd moved to L.A. Smart move.

part in blue.. 👏👏👏
although, i am not Anti Ash.. i don't understand why some people are, but hey, that's their opinion.. i think it's great what she is doing.. she's married, 35 (i think), and going strong, even getting recognition in the west now.. if that is not achievement, i don't know what is.. Ash, here's to you.. 👏
as for Frieda, i don't compare her to anyone, as she has yet to show her talent.. but she has done extremely well for herself.. can't we give her a pat on the back and congratulate the girl for bringing some more recognition to India..?? isn't it a win for India..?? i wonder why people say so many negative things about her.. i am not a fan of either of these two, but i have gotta appluad their achievements..! 👏👏

I don't think I said anywhere in my post that people were not entitled to their opinions. That doesn't mean I have to understand them though, and i don't. If you think 15 minutes onscreen isn't an acomplishment then that's you. But I know not everyone can do even that and the fact that she did is a big deal to her. And to other people. It was her first film, her first big break. So yeah, I'd consider it an acomplishment. Besides, it isn't about the length of screen time that one has, it's what one does with it that matters. People have been nominated for Oscars having less screen time than that. She worked for me, and she worked for others too. I can't forget she'd never acted before and I think she held her own well.
As for being well-dressed, well that certainly is an acomplishment by Hollywood standards!! Isn't that what pretty much every actress out there spends hours and hours and hours trying to acomplish? She pulled it off and got noticed. Something alot of other established stars didn't manage to do nearly as well.
Just because YOU'RE not pulling her down (and I'm even a bit iffy about that) doesn't mean others aren't and wholeheartedly too. Again, it doesn't mean they can't or aren't entitled to, it just means I don't get it and frankly I never will.
