Freida Pinto moving to US

Freida Pinto is set to move to New York.

The Indian actress is ready to quit her home in Mumbai to further her career following the success of her movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' - which won eight Academy Awards at last month's Oscars.

If she does relocate, Freida, 24, isn't worried about getting homesick because she says the Big Apple has a lot in common with the bustling Indian city.

She said: "I'd definitely move to New York because, in a way, it's very similar to Mumbai except that it's more organised. I was walking down Fifth Avenue recently and I realised that everyone is walking in one direction totally focused on what they're doing.

"I remember it being 5am one night and I was on the 23rd floor of a hotel, I could hear the honking cars and I thought, 'I feel like I'm in Mumbai!' "

Freida - who made her film debut in 'Slumdog Millionaire' - is confident she can be a success in Hollywood, despite the low number of Indian actors who have made it big in Tinseltown.

She told Britain's OK! magazine: "I'm not worried about not doing well. I feel a film like 'Slumdog...' has really showcased my acting talents. Because I'm not always seen in my best light in the movie - I have a scar on my face and a black eye - it de-glamorises the character and that in itself becomes the beauty of the character. Hopefully it will do great things for my career so people don't just see me as a beautiful model."

Im quite shocked that she thinks that her 15 min role showcases her acting talents, and then goes onto talking about how she looks in the film. A character's look does play a part, but her role really doesn't show a high degree of acting skill, it's not like it was a complex role or anything😕

Well if her next movie really clicks who knows she might very well make it in hollywood. She is still staying in the news as I see her at so many fashion meets, landing the estee lauder deal etc so moving to NY may work out very well for her indeed.
But LOL @ SD showcasing her talent - I guess she is just basking in the compliments received for the movie.

And here we go with the anti-Frieda sentiments again. I don't get it, really. I mean I'm totally anti-Aishwarya but deep inside even I always feel proud when she represents India on a global scale!
Whatever. Frieda is climbing the stairs steadily and I hope she stays there!!! You go girl!!!

I think in that 15 min role she has done well...she looked beautiful and she did her part very well. Right now she is the toast because of her wonderful red carpet appearances and of course the Slumdog mania! So hopefully she will get better chances to showcase her talent and hopefully she won't just be another pretty face :) I like her confidence in her abilities. Hope she shines brighter and brighter!

You took the words right out of my mouth. Why people are do gung ho in criticising or pulling this girl down is beyond me. I too, have no love for Ash but I will never detract from her acomplishments. If Freida wants to move to New York why the heck shouldn't she? And if she lacks talent as much as some are claiming she does, why did she bag a WOODY ALLEN movie? Now there's a director who doesn't cast people accordingly popularity and I think he's got a more astute eye when it comes to talent thatnmost of us sitting at our desktops at home. He must have seen something in her "15mins of screentime". 🤔
Moving on, New York is a good place for high profile people to live, she definitely wouldn't get hounded by photographs nearly as much as she would have been if she'd moved to L.A. Smart move.

I loved SD, but really Freida was barely there in the movie. I really didn't think the movie showcased her acting talent. She looked pretty, that's for sure. Anyways, I liked her for those 15 minutes in SD😆

here goes another bimbo thinking she has made it in hollywood its the movie that worked and the male actor is getting role & has already bagged one offer. she is dreaming to high to soon, will fall flat on her face & will be back shamed face.

there are many talented actresses in hollywood still hoping to make it big,but this gal already feels she is the queen bee of hollywood makes me laugh, that is the reason we have so many one movie wonders working on tv or in some burger bar

i am sure she will end up being a waitress in big apple, gosh the girls needs a reality check,if she had some offers in hollywood then i would understand but without iffer such a big move is rather foioolish. remember bend it like beckham gal she was the lead of the movie, but what she got was a lead on tv,but keira the sidey in the movie made it big. so if talented actress like parminder nagra got a soap after doing a full fledged role & that to being fluent in english & from uk,so what makes this damsel in distress think she is the most wanted, haunted starlet of hollywood. this kid makes me laugh, let her dream,no harm in dreaming, but the sooner she wakes up the better
