Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. Opening statements have been made. The court is now in session. The bench now requests the prosecution and defense to begin their cross questioning.

Her vicious is act is in no way justifiable, she has intentionally caused pain and suffering for not only this innocent teenager, but also her family who have spent weeks praying for Julie's life. Ms. Doe claims to wanting to teach a child a lesson for making a mockery of her own daughter, Diane, but all Mrs. Doe has done is ruin a young girl's life. She has forced her to the extent that she would want to take her own life. She has pushed her to limits where even the best of adults are carried away. If Mrs. Doe was sincerely worried for her daughter, and wanted to rectify this situation, she should have spoken to Mr. Sanchez, she should have known better than to become a teenager herself and seek revenge. In the end, she has done nothing but endangered not only Julie, but also her own daughter's innocence. What makes Mrs. Doe think that her act is justified? What gives Mrs. Doe the right to decide who ought to live and who should not? Mrs. Doe's act was cruel and vicious, and meant to cause young Julie harm in any and every way possible. I find it highly disappointing that mature adults in our society can behave so viciously and then criticize other teenagers for making life hard for their own children. Instead of forcing Julie upon her own death, Mrs. Doe should have attempted to help this motherless girl, to talk to her, to make her understand and guide her in picking right over wrong. Instead, Mrs. Doe has decided to take the law in her own hands and her cruel intentions have left young Julie at the brink of death.
