Aamir Khan says no to Yash Chopra for film opposite Preity Zinta. Salman Khan is being considered

It seems like India's most talented actor, Aamir Khan and top director Yash Chopra are not fated to work together. It may be recalled that Mumbai Mirror had earlier reported that Yash Chopra was planning a film with Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta. While Preity had taken the signing amount, Aamir was in talks with Yash Raj Films. Now the latest news is that Aamir has refused to do the film while Preity is still part of the cast. What's more, Salman Khan is being considered for the role. Our source from the production house said, "Yash Chopra had liked Aamir and Preity's pairing in Dil Chahta Hai, hence he wanted to pair them together once again. But it seems like the Dil Chahta Hai pair may not be seen together as Aamir has said no to the film." In spite of several meetings between the actor and director things failed to materialise. "Yash Chopra and Aamir Khan had lengthy discussions over the story and like all Chopra films, this one promised to be a romance as well. The story is about a journey of two strangers who meet and share a deep love even in old age. Aamir had even called Preity and discussed Yash Chopra's offer with her but somehow, Aamir was not convinced about the script and turned it down. Salman Khan is now a strong contender for the role," said our source. To recap, Aamir was the original choice for Shah Rukh's role in Darr. The film also starred Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla. Aamir had then insisted on a joint narration with Sunny, but Yash Chopra did not agree to it. Later when Shah Rukh Khan was roped in Aamir was not even informed about it. A hurt Aamir had then taken a vow to never work with Yash Chopra. About Salman replacing Aamir the source said, "Yash Chopra considering Salman Khan has raised several eyebrows because Yash Chopra's differences with Shah Rukh Khan then becomes very evident." However, when we contacted Rafiq Gangjee, YRF's official spokesperson, he said, "It is unfortunate that these baseless rumours have been doing the rounds for sometime now. The truth is that Yash Chopra has not yet finalised his script and therefore the issue of approaching an actor does not arise. And no, Aamir Khan has not been approached." Meanwhile, Aamir Khan remained unavailable for comment. |
