Hey Everyone,

Hope you all are enjoying your readings!
We all are connected to fiction, some by books, some by movies and most of us by our own imagination. Let's share what part of any fictional work made you think, what made you to analyse yourself, which line, which word made you cry, which character inspired you, whose work compelled that you could write fiction too. Lets us all share the fictional moments of ur life that made a change in you.
I will start with mine...It was"The Kite Runner" who changed it all for me. The line, "A Thousand times over for you" makes something shudder inside me and clog my thorat. It was most moving novel I have read. This book also inspired me to write though it took me full two years to start writing. Hassan taught me selflessness and loyalty. Shorab taught me how I can still be me no matter how unfair life is and also that you have to take the first step you want to get rid of agony. Aamir taught me how to face dmy demons and repent. When I was reading Kite Runner I felt all my defenses crumpled and it is the only book till now that had made me really cry. After that many made me sad and compelled to think. Harry Potter series was my next adventure to this world of fascinating and honeslty it was a hell of a ride and loved every bit of it. I was a kid again while I was reading Harry Potter.
So Share guys and by this you might be helping someone else. It can be a samll wors, line, scene anything. They might pick a book that u liked and learn the best lesson of their life.

Yes, over the years I have read books which have Impacted me in several ways...but two books that I recently read, Zadie Smith's "On Beauty" and V.S. Naipaul's "Magic Seeds" really made me think

On Beauty
: It shows a semi-normal, fully dysfunctional family and their up and downs, it really touched me when I witnessed the resolve of the female protagonist, her ability to forgive her husband of his various infidelities and bad other misgivings until breaking point.
It also showed me how human nature is so flexible and fickle that a one time feminist now depends on a man, her husband, to derive her identity.

Magic Seeds: Naipaul is a master of his craft and his recent book touched such a cord with me, I was able to identify myself with male protagonist. He is a miserably drifter having done nothing substantial in life and then finally joins the army cadres of Maoists, so as to prove to his sister and others of his "strength" due to a mistake, he arrives in a more brutal cadre than he was originally supposed to join, forcing the sheltered man to now adapt to the harshness and starkness of his surroundings.

Da vinci Code ::: I always used to wonder whether or not Jesus was married ..because for a normal jew of that time he should have been. And also the Bible doesnt mention him to be either
being married or unmarried .. It really made me think , and made me more sceptical ( as if i already weren't)

Definitely. There has been so many books that left their mark on my heart. I have learned a lot from them, analyzed myself, and approached the world in a different way.

The Kite Runner definitely stands out. It's a story about human nature and the line "For you, a thousand times over" will never lessen its impact on me. I just loved the book because it was real. It didn't have a protagonist that was larger than life - he made mistakes and he regretted them forever. But what makes us human is that we have the power to help our future if we didn't do that much in the past.

The Last Lecture - It made me think how life is really short. We think oh we have like 60 years to live but the next thing we know is that we don't. Professor Pausch gave so many valuable lessons from his life that I couldn't stop thinking about life and the circumstances. His lessons were heart touching and he showed more than he told which made me believe him.

Night - It still makes me cry every time I read it. This book shows the kind of power the humans that after facing so much they still survive. It made me question if there were really enough problems in my life to complain.... it told me that there are people who are worse off and face atrocities that I can't even imagine. It also made me firm that one has to take a stand against the evil.

There are many other books, but I can't think of them right now. Will add later.

-Mahi
