Written Update- 17th February (Second Episode)

Second Episode

Jyoti turns to see Deepu behind her and he sees the bags and asks her what she bought for him. She hands him a book that he wanted and he says why she got him that book when he could have found a cheaper used one. She says that he could read the whole book in the time that he would spend getting the book. He then says he needs a new shirt and Sushma says he just got one a couple of months ago but Padma (Mother) interrupts saying that he spends so much time outside so he deserves it. She hands Deepu tea and leaves sending Sushma away as well. Jyoti sees Deepu's sad face and promises to give get him a shirt with the money she gets from dance and he tries to say no but she says that she will take care of it.

Jyoti goes to Sudha who is putting away clothes and tells her to come talk to her since she only ever talks to Jyoti and even then only talks a little. Sudha then asks her why she doesn't buy herself a new dress for dance since she has performed in the same one three times but Jyoti says that she cant and will buy a dupatta to mix and match. Sudha then says that she sees so many people at work and at rehearsal and Jyoti gets annoyed and tells her not to remind her of things that she doesn't want to remember like the fact that her pay isn't enough. She says it's okay because she is happy seeing everyone else happy. Sudha then asks Jyoti if she should get a job to help her but Jyoti says no since she is so good at her studies despite being schooled privately and has only one year left to graduate. She also says that after that she'll ask Sudha to help out herself. She then tells Sudha to smile but she doesn't and asks Jyoti if she has money left. When she gives her some she asks Jyoti why she didn't ask what the money is for and so Jyoti asks her and she says it's for Jyoti's new dress and when Jyoti tries to say no she says it's for her smile and Jyoti promises to buy a new dress. Sudha puts the money away in the closet and leaves.

Sudha walks out into the corridor thinking and then goes to a cupboard and pulls out a newspaper. She circles an ad for a job and then hears music playing. She looks out the window to see a girl in a modern dress dancing on a roof top. She watches till the end and then seems really sad.

In the morning Deepu comes into the kitchen asking for breakfast and Padma tells him to wait and tells Sudha to hurry. Deepu seeing that sudha is making breakfast says that he'll have to go hungry because she cant do anything except study. Just then Sushma comes in asking for her tiffin and Padma tells her to wait and she leaves to braid her hair. Padma tells Sudha to finish making Sandeep's breakfast while she makes sushma's tiffin but Sudha says that she is late leaving for the library. Padma then says that 10 minutes wont make a difference and that she just has to go to the library while Deepu has to go study engineering. Deepu then says to his mother that sudha thinks that they politics she studies is just as important as his engineering and that she doesn't realize how hard engineering is. He calls her Dheeli and his mother scolds him but he says he cant not call her by the name that their Dadi gave her and then calling her Dheeli again leaves. Sudha wipes her tears and Padma seeing this says just make 2 more parthas and leave. She tells Sudha that she only asks her for help because she is alone and Jyoti doesn't have time in the morning since she wastes it.

Jyoti is exercising her father's legs and when he tells her that it's enough she tells him that he has to try to get better and that she has found him a great physiotherapist. He says there is no point because no one will hire him even if he gets better and she scolds him saying that he has to get better for his and their happiness not because of work.

The phone rings and Padma picks it up and it's baby mausi. Jyoti wheels her father into the room and Padma seeing them says to baby mausi that the boy's family came but because of mangal dosh rejected jyoti even though there is nothing wrong with her other than that and tells her to look for more boys. Jyoti's father leaves and after padma hangs up Jyoti asks her mother why she is trying to get her married. Padma says that they can't keep their daughter home forever and leaves. Jyoti follows her and says that even though she doesn't believe in all of this why is her mother trying to get her married when the pandit said that she has a mangal dosh problem for the next three or four years. She says she heard the family was good and so thought they could meet but the boy's family saw the kundli and insulted them before leaving. Sudha is standing at the door and asks to go the library and her mother says go and that it's good she studies there rather thand buying expensive books. Sudha leaves and Padma tells Jyoti that the boy's family was also talking about dowry. Jyoti then teases her mom asking why she wants to send her to someone who asks for money. Her mother says that rishtas are not made by choice and Jyoti agrees saying they are made by god and that her rishta will happen where it is supposed to. Then she tells her mom with a dreamy look that she wants someone who will marry her despite her mangal problems and cares about her. She wants someone who will take her away in one set of clothes. Padma looks worried hearing this and Jyoti leaves seeming a little shy saying she is late for rehearsals. Her mother just watches her leave frowning.

Jyoti goes to class and hears music when she gets there. She goes down the steps to see a man playing the guitar and runs to him and sits in front of him. He sings to her and she shyly smiles at him. He gives her a rose at the end of the song and she takes it shyly. They hear clapping and look up to see Dada and some other girls looking at them. Dada says that if their program is done can they rehearse and leaves with the girls. Jyoti tries to leave but the man stops her. Jyoti asks him why he is acting this way in front of everyone. Brij says what she means by in front of everyone and the he was just practicing his song. She says there is no dance for that song and he says he is practicing his voice and so she asks about the rose. He says she'll get one every day and not to say no. They both smile at each other.

It's night and Deepu is looking at a magazine while pretending to study which is covers when his mother comes in tells him to give his father medicine. He says he has to study and cant waste his time on useless things. She scolds him saying that the medicine is not useless. She then sweetly says that it will only take a couple of minutes. He says he has an exam and to ask Dheeli (Sudha). Padma says if it was any other medicine she would but this is one has weird measurements and that only he knows how to give it and what if something goes wrong. Deepu says okay and to leave it there.

He goes to sudha and when she takes time to open the door scolds her. He then gives her the medicine saying that he has to make notes off his friend's book and give it back so she should make it and give it. She tries to say no but he says there are instructions on the bottle and she know how to read. He gives it to her and leaves and says not to make a mistake and leaves calling her Dheeli. Sudha get depressed and leaves to make the medicine. She goes to her father who is watching TV and sees that the instructions on the bottle says to shake well. She shakes the bottle but it slips from her hands and falls. It breaks and her mother runs in asking what happened. Her father turns and asks her how she dropped the medicine nicely. She looks at her mother scared and Deepu walk in. He sees the mess and asks his mother how Sudha could break the bottle. He screams at her saying she cant do one thing right and Sudha drops the metal bowl in her hand scared. Padma pulls Sandeep back and says that she asked him to give the medicine but he said that he was studying for engineering. He says that he gave the bottle to Sudha to give the medicine to their dad and then screams at Sudha asking if she is crazy. Sushma is hiding behind a pillar watching. Their dad says it's okay and Deepu asks how it can be okay. Their dad then says that she didn't do it on purpose and that it happens. Deepu says that it does just happen and he screams at Sudha asking her why she is cleaning it up now and scares her even more almost hitting her. Jyoti walks in to see Sudha crying and Deepu saying he doesn't know what goes on in her head and what she thinks about all day. Jyoti asks what happened and comforts Sudha. Deepu says not to ask her and to ask him. He tells her he asked Sudha to give the medicine to their father and to see what she has done. He says to their dad that if she had known she would be so careless with his medicine he would have never given it to her and would have left everything to give the medicine to him. He says the most that would happen would be him failing and at least they would not have to suffer this loss. Jyoti tells him that it's enough but he ask why he should stop and that she should stop taking Sudha's side. He says that when he asks for money for his studies or for a shirt she asks four times before giving it to him. He says that she was the one that taught them all that even 10 rupees are very important in their house and that the bottle was 300 rupees and then asks where they'll get the money. He reaches down to hit Sudha and she screams. Jyoti pushes him away and after standing slaps him. Everyone stands there shocked with Deepu holding his cheek.
