@Anu: Exactly!! I can't understand where any of the characters are coming from, which makes it very hard for me to actually care about or connect with any of them.....And yeah, badi maa's ridiculous overreaction even makes the actions of Kaushi and Vasu somewhat justifiable - and that's saying alot!!
Today's epi really just made me want to pull my hair out!!.....My brow was furrowed throughout the entire thing!

U know somebody here just said that this is a feminist's worst nightmare and i could not agree more..i don't htink i can find better words to put this in..
i swear Akshara is one of the most meek quiet naive girls i have seen on tv..she is 19, but still 19 yr olds are not that spineless and jdo not just end up crying all the time..not one word to defend herself?!?! i mean seriously woman stand up for urself..and the drama over one rejection!???!?!? oh god!!!!
seriously and the rejection was for singing?!?!? u know what though..i thought it was too preliminary for her to even start dreaming abt the guy after the first meeting..seriously its like she set up a whole fantasy world in one meeting?!?!?
seriously for once there should be one show,,just one show where the girl is independent, wants to study and work and continues to do that after marriage..not because she needs to, but because she wants to..seriously these shows have totally lost track of reality..
I mean you want to show Indian culture sure, but culture can be shown with a a mix of modern thinking and ideals because thats how today's society works...NOt every girl wants to get married and take care of the husband's family..they have dreams and aspirations..

The saddest part about such shows is that they portray characters and situations in the name of showcasing Indian culture and traditons.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
If you look at the recent past, most of the youngsters making headlines have all hailed from places like Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Bhopal, Lucknow ect...Be it the Indian Idols or Cricketers or Models or Actresses.
Even if the Creatives are showing Akshara as being a typical small town girl, they are getting it completely wrong. Being docile and shy is one thing, being utterly spineless and weak is completely another. Andany child who has grown up amongst so much of love and pampering will most definitely turn out to be a confident and self-reliant person, rather than such a hapless creature.
Considering that the basic premise of the show is 'Love in an Arranged Marriage' they have got it wrong again. Anyone who has gone through an arranged marriage or has seen one in their family will know how the process is done...it is very, very rare that two people (and families) click in just one meeting...even if the girl and boy in question have wings of angel...there are so many other things to be taken into consideration before an alliance is formed. YRKKH has simplified the process of an arranged marriage to the level of stupidity.😕
Also, considering that the Maheshwari's are shown to be so ultra-traditional and 'parampara-waadi', who the hell told them to go around town bleating about their daughter's rishta, when only one single meeting had taken place and there was no confirmation either ways from the boy's side?😕 Who told Rajshri to buy jewellery and then also talk about the alliance being fixed with the jeweller? Who told them to ask Akshara whether she likes the boy or not right in the middle of Shaurya and Varsha's engagment?
It is discrepancies like these which make YRKKH such a flumoxing watch...except for the fact that the sets and costumes are perhaps of a very high quality, nothing else is well-thought out in the show. Very sad and shameful, considering YRKKH comes from the same production house as Bidaai!

god i wonder which century akshara and her family living....i really can't understand this whole family...just for one rejection with a baseless reason they overeacting so much....as for akshara i can't understand that she has started to love rituraj and his rejection breaks her heart but akshara family should be strong and console their daughter....but no both daughter...bhabhi and family crying and flooding the whole udaipur......

First of all u wrote it so perfect and really created a laugh riot Congrats for that!!!!.I cannot agree more...I mean isnt that the part and parcel of how arranged marriages take place? I really don't understand why the Maheshwari family is making such a big deal out of it and behaving like a bunch of idiots who are "devastated" by this so called bad news!!!! One thing more I am really soooo angry on the creatives because why do they only emphasize upon getting a suitable match and being married? This is the 21st century and shouldnt they show that girls should be more confident and stand on their feet..make a career n stuff.....
Why is marriage being portrayed as the ultimate goal for girls and even boys for that matter? I mean look at Shaurya..have they ever shown him working diligently in the office or doing some deals...he was busy having an affair with Varsha rather than expanding his dad's business....I am really surprised on the fact that why are creatives showing all this stuff when actually its redundant in today's world since both boys and girls are more into making career rather than just get married and stay at home....they should instead show empowerment of girls rather than showing them as meek, indecisive and unconfident like Akshara....Even if they are showing her like that right now they should think of showing her as an improved person later on if they really want to make sense in front of the sensible audience....I mean compared to all these people Dhaniya is probably the better one since she works,is very confident and exactly knows what and whom she wants in life? Just my thoughts....sorry if I have offended anyone...
Thanks

I can't say about anyone else but what happened with me since my marriage was arranged....in arranged marriage, specially if you approach a matrimonial agency then there are a lots of proposals at first go...that doesn't mean you get emotionally involved with someone till the time ur sure that this guy will be your soulmate.....yes u can have a crush on anyone yaar..it's very normal..but arranged marriage has nothing to do with it..u can have a crush on someone walking on the road also, someone u don't even know...
Our parents , since they have seen a lot more than us, know very well how the proceedings go...As for my parents, they didn't took me along to any place to see a boy..first they went to see the boy, his house, everything ..if they thot they liked it then in a case or two they fixed up a meeting....now it's very natural that these things take time and if the answer is "yes" , one does get sad but there's no issue coz they know this was not the boy they were looking for...
If they had shown in Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai that they said no bec. Akshara came to see Rituraj alone, then it was still understandable bec. something like this happened with me too ..but real life is very different....i wanted to meet the boy again ..my parents fixed up a meeting the second time and my rishta got fixed with the same guy...but after my marriage i realized that my wish cud have had serious consequences bec. they seriously thot the other way....my in laws misinterpreted my intention that probably i didnt liked them in the first meeting that's why i wanted another meeting...that's another thing that my wud be husband at that time and I fell in love when we met for the 2nd time....and his word was final ...not that my in laws had any problems with me..but this thought did crossed their minds that WHY did i wanted to meet the boy again....these things are sensitive and one small mistake cud be misunderstood but then...ultimately destiny plays a big role..
@Sophie..ur the funniest person i've ever met on this forum ..hats off 😊
