Says Shweta Kawatra about hubby Manav Gohil as the couple fly off to Bahamas for their first wedding anniversary

Shweta Teotia

Every couple finds ingenious ways of celebrating milestones in their relationship. For television stars Shweta Kawatra and Manav Gohil, a year of marital bliss calls for a big celebration. So on December 25, the couple will head to the exotic Bahamas to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

It may not be a golden or silver anniversary, but it is an 'anniversary' alright and one can almost feel the pulsating excitement in their voice as Manav says, "I can't believe it is one year already. It feels like we got married yesterday."

The second honeymoon, as Manav describes it will translate into the couple's absence from the television circuit for fourteen days. "It will give us a lot of quality time together. We could have gone to Singapore, Malaysia or any other South Asian countries, but there is always a possibility of bumping into someone you know. With the Bahamas, that possibility is ruled out completely. The entire concept of being isolated really appealed to me."

Shweta takes full credit for choosing the Bahamas from an entire list of similar destinations, "Bahamas was my idea. We have travelled together in the past on several occasions, but it was always work related. In the past year we have been working so hard that I think we deserved this break."

Walking down memory lane, Manav relives the first time they met on the sets of Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki. "We continued to be friends for three years. Love blossomed much later finally culminating in marriage," he says.

Endearing and enduring this relationship has meant patience, understanding and commitment for the both of them. "I can be very annoying especially when I keep the house dirty. But she tolerates everything. On my part, I try not to irk her. In fact, I have started playing video games (which she hates) when she is not around. On a serious note, I have evolved in the true sense of the word and am very happy," says Manav.

While Shweta adds, "The relationship is as fresh as it used to be when we were courting. I continue to have pillow fights with Manav. We have a fantastic chemistry and I guess marriage has enhanced that. But Manav gets mad if I am not punctual. I try to justify a five minute delay, but of no avail. Of course, running late is not intentional. It is just that women have so many things on their mind."

No problem. Actually, I thought she wasn't the housewife type.
