| Aamir Khan's film set for January release |
| Mumbai, Dec. 21. (AP): Popular Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's new movie plotting the journey of self-discovery of a group of friends is set for release in January, a newspaper reported Wednesday. The film ''Rang De Basanti _ A generation awakens,'' traces the change that Khan's character _ a disc jockey _ and his friends undergo after they are hired to act in a documentary about India's struggle against British colonial rule. ''The film is about standing up for your beliefs,'' director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra told Mumbai Mirror newspaper in an interview published Wednesday. ''These youngsters could be anyone from among us and their lives mirror the kind of lives the youth of today lead: namely a self-centered and materialistic existence.'' The film shows how Khan and his friends change once they are touched by the courage and spirit of the men who fought for India's independence, which was finally achieved in 1947. The movie will be released on Jan. 20. |
