There is nothing more satisfying in the world, when you do things that people always think you can't do. It sure does give creative satisfaction – doesn't it?
I don't know about others, but, I sure do love it, when BT makes me eat my own words. By the way, why is everyone in such a remorse mood? Hello? Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening? Prem is back at the Juneja House! Prem and Heer ki shaadi ho gayee hai, the conversation is back, Preet is back to being his jovial self...Something, which, we wanted for long, has finally happened.
Kis Desh is finally on the road to recovery. I know, the treatment could have been better for the mandap scene. I really don't know whether to be happy or sad about – Happy that Rishabh Rampal & Heer's marriage was stopped or sad, because the scene could have been better and we were denied a powerful scene. Since, we were expecting a high voltage drama, I guess it's natural that we feel let down and disappointed. But since, it a choice, I have to make and since it's a choice, that I can make, I chose to be happy. Happy, because after a long day at work, I don't get to see a scheming man/ woman plotting to get the main leads separated. Happy, because I don't get to see the violence in the show. Happy, because its lightheartedness all the way. Happy, because Preet is back to being his jovial and naughty self. Loved the way, he twisted his lips and gave prem a kiss and then pulled his leg, loved the way kiran put his hands on lalits eyes,
Happy, because I am not crying and ripping my hair apart seeing every character cry in the show Happy, because the show retained my faith that it has always stood for what it has believed in. Happy, because this is so unlike any other BT show. Happy, because, Prem & Heer are together and the show is back on track. Happy…the episode didn't drag for days together. As long that Rishabh Rampal, Sanjana, Simran stay 1000000000 to the power of n times away from the script of Kis Desh, I'm happy. Happy because I think the various ways destiny, kismet, god, stars play a role is being depicted in the show. Happy, because the realities of life is being depicted in the show.
I know everyone is feeling a little let down, at BT not showing the pheras et all and just the sindoor scene. (Remember the Om Shanti Om Dialogue : Ek Chootki Sindoor ki kimat tum kya jano Ramesh Babu? Ishwar ka aasirwad hota hai ek chooti sindoor. Haar suhagan ka taag hota hai ek chooti sindoor. Haar aurat khawab hota hai ek-chootki-sindoor) for me, that scene was of great significance. The sindoor signified the strengthening of Prem & Heer's relationship. It signified the final stamp, the stamp that society needed, for them to be labeled as husband and wife. They were married spiritually,mentally, chemically, physiologically. They were married to each other in their hearts and soul. They were married to each other in their heads.
May be that bit got chopped at the editing table, may be it was not needed. What though is important is that in sickness and in health, in joy and in sadness, Prem & Heer are one. That's what is important, right?
Prem being hand in gloves with Rishabh Rampal, is so like other BT crap. I'm sure they will not do anything that will risk the TRP's dipping further. I guess, what they need to do is stick to the basics. That is what always works and that's what will work now, basic being what the show has always stood for, what the essence of the show is, the essence of the characters, the various elements that made us fall in love with the show. I don't know about others, but I loved the episode yesterday (12th February, 2009). Finally, it seemed as if everyone was enjoying themselves.
The mood of the forum these days and the speculation reminded me, on one of the realities of life. That came what may, we shall never be happy. I guess, our experiences in life (read the show, read other BT shows) have made us feel and act that way. So, here is what we do. While the cast and crew toil day in and day to bring us the episode on time, we on our part instead of thanking them for finally showing us something we like, end up speculating that this show will go ala other BT way, that prem & rr are hand in gloves. But till now, even when my thinking takes a beating, the creatives have come up with an ace up their sleeves to make me believe that they are indeed trying their best to be different.
I love it when I have to eat my words! This is one show that is surviving, without having any well known actors in the show. (Read : Hiten Tejwani, Shabir Ahluwalia, Eijaz Khan, Ronit Roy). This is one show that has survived, against all odds, held it on their own and I think its something, they can be proud of. They should also be proud of one thing: that they have all believed in themselves, held on to their nerves, dared to do things differently and with a midas touch.
I think the editing still needs to be improved upon and the only thing apart from the editing, that would now need to be taken care of, is to retain the midas touch, to retain this lightheartedness, to retain the fun element and of course to retain the bit : Prem and Heer are one, that the essence of the character remains intact and memory loss or faking memory loss for Prem , the soul of the character to be intact and to remain. If these are improved upon, then the show will be back to where it was earlier, in the months of March – July, when we fell in love with the show.
I'm sure, everyone is wondering, what the story line would be. The show has always stood for the realities in life, so I am sure, they will come up with something realistic and not the run of the mill kind. The feelings, the adjustments, life after marriage along with priorities in life- everything changes for the girl and boy. It will be interesting to see, what they now come up with. It will be interesting to see, whether they will be able to show, how two people who are always meant to be, handle and deal with various situations, circumstances that life throws at them. So, with that in mind, I give the creatives, a chance. They have proved me wrong for the better twice. I am sure they will prove me wrong for the better, again. As always, I look forward to that day.
