Salman Khan was supposed to be at Amber Fort in Jaipur shooting Veer but instead was in Mumbai last Sunday shooting for London Dreams.
We spoke to Veer director Anil Sharma, who clarified the status of his film saying, "He did go to Mumbai but it was just for a few hours. He had to shoot for London Dreams and in the meanwhile we put up the set at Amber Fort. Right now, he is back and shooting is going on as per schedule. Salman just shot a fight scene and has done a great job. We are going to be here in Jaipur for the next 55 days. Shooting will go on non-stop."
The sets at Amber Fort are reported to have cost approximately Rs. 1 crore and are being used to shoot a swayambar sequence. But with recession hitting the film industry too, we asked Sharma how he could afford such a big budget. He says, "I know that the recession is affecting Bollywood badly lekin log khana peena toh nahi chodta hain naa. In spite of it we are not making any compromises as it is Salman Khan's most prestigious project. Everyone is working hard, especially Salman Khan."
Understandable as the actor is in desperate need of a hit film. Sallu's movies God Tussi Great Ho, Hello, Heroes and Yuvvraaj all bombed at the box office last year.
Veer revolves around a love story set in 1850 AD. It is set in Rajasthan which is familiar territory to director Anil Sharma who has shot many of his films such as Gadar, Tumhare Havale Vatan Sathiyon and Ailan-E-Jang there. The historical drama will release by the end of 2009.
