Others might think that he was missing in action but Sanjay clarifies that in the time that he wasn't facing the camera, he was behind it, producing his debut film It's My Life starring Harman Baweja and Genelia, directed by Anees Bazmee.
"I took a break from acting for my production. By saying that I don't mean that every second day I was getting offers from Karan Johar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Nothing interesting was being offered to me so I decided to concentrate on my production," said Sanjay, who played a failed actor who turns director in Zoya's film. "I have got an overwhelming response for the film. Ram Gopal Varma, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar and many others from the fraternity called me up and told me that they just loved me in the comedy role and that I should do more films now," said Sanjay, who was initially sceptical to sign the film "since it would be viewed as my comeback film and I wasn't playing the lead. But now I'm gald I'm a part of it. Zoya's done a fabulous job," he said.
If people loved Sanjay as the Bollywood director who is influenced by Hollywood director Clint Eastwood in Luck By Chance, then they will have a field day watching him in his next film Kirket which is a satire on IPL cricket. "It's a funny film about how top honchos exploit cricket for their own benefit. It also has Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover and Sayali Bhagat in the film besides four new actors," informed Sanjay who also has a cameo in yet another film.

But now I know that success is just around the corner. I can see it coming," said the actor-turned-producer who has plunged into production without his brothers — Anil and Boney — being involved in it. "Ultimately you have to do everything by yourself. Everybody has to run their own house," said Sanjay, who also has plans to someday do a film with niece Sonam. "She is looking so pretty in Delhi 6. All the kids from our family are getting into movies — Sonam's younger sister Rhea is assisting Ayan Mukherjee in Wake Up Sid, Boney's son Arjun is also into movies and so is my sister's son. It's a total filmi family," said the proud uncle.
